Hello Flist!

This is the cake I made for my birthday party with the GODS. It was modeled on the Schliemann Trench, which Heinrich Schliemann dug at Troy. He was a man with a mission, never a good thing in an archaeologist, and he found exactly what he was looking for. Of course, now we know it was mostly bullshit, but what can you do?

Anyhoodle, here is the picture that I used to model for the cake:

My friend had a birthday. About a month before, I happened to be flipping through a parenting magazine where I saw an article about a pair of Australian dads who had given their daughter a Marie Antoinette themed party, the main feature being this beautiful cake.

"That," I thought to myself "Is something I can do. Except I would totally cut the head off the doll."

My friend's boyfriend was in agreement, so we embarked on this epic quest of cake bakery. Unfortunately, the camera died and there are no "in process" shots (which is too bad, because there would have been a PRICELESS one we realized that we had to ice the boobs), but you'll get the idea.

That's right, my friends, in the midst of the various and sundry eruptions that surrounded the finale of Battlestar Galactica, there was a cake. A Battlestar Galacticake.

Apparently I need to get caught up on SCC RIGHT NOW as Something Important Has Happened, and my little unspoiled self is on episode 2. Whoops! I blame Merlin and Legend of the Seeker...

Anyhoodle, I made cupcakes for The Miami Project's bakesale this week. Mum went on Friday morning at 10:00 and they were all gone, and when she said something, the women were all "Dude, are you kidding? They were gone before we finished setting up the table". Go me!

I made the Penguin Cupcakes again, this time with the benfit of having the book present so I could get a better idea of how to make the eyes (icing, not marshmallows) and remember that they have wings. Also, we used chocolate icing, so the colour took better.



Awesome, eh?

It's finished. It's yellow and a sort of pukey green...but it looks ok.

All in all, I am not as pumped about this one as I was for the last one. Perhaps because this one is for someone else and I am afraid he'll be all "Er...thanks." and then it will be awkward. Also, I don't get to eat it. But still, it will taste good, because it's all good stuff, and it was fun to make. I definitely know where I'll make improvements next time!

So a few days ago, I posted that Rachel and I had committed cupcakes and promised pictures.

I shouldn't have used this icon. Now I want Martha/Jack fanfiction about how she saved the world and he sort of worships her for it, but they both sort of love the Doctor so it's a bit messy. It would have to take place before season two of Torchwood, obviously, but I am okay with that.
