Battlestar Galacticake

That's right, my friends, in the midst of the various and sundry eruptions that surrounded the finale of Battlestar Galactica, there was a cake. A Battlestar Galacticake.




THE SCENE: Rachel's kitchen (also, incidentally, where we made the Corn on the Cupcakes last summer).



THE KITCHEN AID: Seriously, my friends, if I never make another cake, I will die happy having used that thing. It was AWESOME.



This is what I used for the crest on the top of the ship. It's not quite as...scruffy as I was hoping for, but it worked.



Here we have it, ready for detailing. The shape isn't perfect, but you get the idea.



The Battlestar Galacticake. Which for some reason I did not take top shots of, but whatever! And it was DELICIOUS. :)

Now, on to planning the birthday cake!

Now I have to think of something for my birthday! After so much black/grey/brown icing, I want to do something COLOURFUL, but I don't know what yet!

(ETA: This is a challenge, because I would REALLY like to make a Stonehenge cake...and that would be grey!)

Yay, Galactica Cake! I was directed here by pellucid as I am entertaining myself since the ending of the show by baking goods about it. :-)

I gave some thought to Raptor shaped cupcakes, but decided it would be too much construction and not enough cakey goodness. I am really pleased with how well it turned out!
