Epic fantasy of Epic, violence, rape, people existing below the waist (sort of), forbidden love, TV show potential.

I kind of hated this book. With 200 pages to go (so 500 pages in), I thought to myself, "What else could possibly happen", and then I thought "Oh frak, Denna", and then I skipped a lot because, dude, I don't want to read that sort of thing for fun. However, I totally got to the end and thought (after I finished celebrating for reasons I'll explain in the spoiler cut) "Hey! I should get book two!" for about a nanosecond before I remembered that I would rather shoot myself in the head.

Cut for book and show spoilers )

Now I'm gonna have to watch the show again...

+++

I didn't write anything today. Well, I wrote by hand, but I didn't type anything up, so I am not counting it. And I didn't even do very much of that. I just...got home from work and fizzled out entirely. Tomorrow I'll go to a coffee shop after work. That should set me up to finish CHAOS.

Why does no one ever pay attention to the rules? )

It was nice to see that the Uruk Hai make-up isn't sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Recycling is important, y'all. ;)

Right up until the 30 minute mark or so, I was torn between summarily declaring this the Best. Episode. Ever. or the Stupidest. Episode. Ever. And then it got really awesome. I laughed SO HARD. The actors were CLEARLY having a ball. I love it when The Old Ones (ie. literary devices) are used to well.

At this rate, Jennson is going to find herself the keeper of all sorts of magical artefacts!

AN: Okay, this is my first attempt at “period” porn. So many laces! So many underclothes! I totally cheated.

Rating: M

Spoilers: Bloodline, no book

Disclaimer: Like many things in New Zealand, I do not own Legend of the Seeker.

Summary: That which is forbidden is always the hardest to ignore.

------

Wizard’s Other Rules

Rule #7: People will make horrible mistakes. You have to love them anyway.

Rule #4: She really is that in to you. Keep your hands to yourself. )

Please no book spoilers in the comments!

Rule #8: Not all bad guys are bad guys. And sometimes they have cute kids. )

I really love how this show is building up. I've compared it to Avatar more than once, and I think the comparison still holds. They are being very careful to give us both sides, at whatever the cost to Richard, and I really appreciate that. It's so darn compelling!

*is relieved that her fic is not jossed and therefore can still be posted*

AN: One of the great things about Legend of the Seeker is that it follows the rules. Each episode is a gorgeous piece of story telling, using old devices in interesting ways, and this makes it possible to make informed guesses about how all the pieces are going to fit together. That said, I haven’t read the books, nor have I seen past “Bloodline”. I don’t want to know if my guesses are correct. Please do not spoil me.

Disclaimer: Like most things in New Zealand, I do not own Legend of the Seeker.

Spoilers: Up to Bloodline, no book.

Rating: PG

It might be my new goal in life to make everyone I know watch this show.

Or I'm really bored and trying to evade reality. You pick.

Vague Spoilers for Bloodline )

Once again, caps provided by [livejournal.com profile] rkc_erika.

Yeah, and I still don't have any of Richard...

. .

This way lies... )

Snag, alter, whatever. Just let me know.

ALSO,

There is a LotS community some of you might be interested in. You can find it at [livejournal.com profile] seeker_series. It's just the show, so no book spoilers please, but the more the merrier!

(Revenant doesn't get its own post, but it was a pretty solid episode.)

I should, perhaps, have got at least one Richard icon for the episodes where Kahlan isn't a major player...

Weren't you paying attention when I talked about Rule 3 three episodes ago? )

And so Richard moves forward. Babysteps. Which is what you do in Epic Fantasy, or you'd only write two books instead of ten. :)

One more and I am caught up!

Ugh, the inevitable clip show.

Darken Rahl had better be doing something cool in the back ground, or I am going to be REALLY bitter about wasting 40 minutes.

ETA: PHEW! Apparently I just had to wait ten minutes.

Am I going to have to start keeping a chart of women who wear white and get close to the Seeker? I hate prophecy. I never know what to take seriously.

I love how Zed is all powerful in completely useless ways. Dude can MAKE FOOD and grow hands and play with puppets...but he can't kill Darken Rahl.

Also, they totally invented the Mordsith JUST so they could dress Kahlan in that suit. Which...damn!

Rule #18: Delivering a calf is just like delivering a baby. You go, farmboy. (Rule #19: Babies make the leads cuter, and also ramp up the sexual tension)

I'd say something profound about ethics and that fight scene, except I'VE BEEN SWIMMING ON THAT BEACH, so I've sort of lost my train of thought.

I've figured something out. I love Sci-Fi TV, but I usually don't like the books that much. Fantasy books I ADORE, but the TV for fantasy novels is usually REALLY BAD (Beastmaster, The Lost World, Xena, Hercules, and those WRETCHED made for TV adaptations of the Odyssey and The Mists of Avalon), and this is...not. For the first time, there is a SHOW that is pure fantasy and it doesn't air at 2PM on Sunday afternoons. I LOVE it.
