Right up until the 30 minute mark or so, I was torn between summarily declaring this the Best. Episode. Ever. or the Stupidest. Episode. Ever. And then it got really awesome. I laughed SO HARD. The actors were CLEARLY having a ball. I love it when The Old Ones (ie. literary devices) are used to well.

At this rate, Jennson is going to find herself the keeper of all sorts of magical artefacts!

I KNOW! It was such a silly episode!! But I was watching it and kept thinking, 'man, the actors who play Richard and Kahlan must be having SO much fun with all the insulting and poking and...yeah, all that stuff. ;)

The one that really got me was Zedd though. Bruce Spence is SO GREAT>

I could not agree more. For most of the first half I was really "this is so trodden!" as far as the plot device, but by the time the scene with Fake!Richard & Fake!Kahlan thrown in the jail and fighting in the hay rolled around, their sheer enjoyment of getting to break character and have a ball with the episode became infectious. I found myself laughing and giggling through the entire second half, and even full out laughing at the last final moments as Fake!Beatrice (in Zedd's body) was trying to stroke Whats-His-Faces hair as they were being led to Rahl.

So yeah, trite, overdone plot device and nothing of any real substance added to the story... but yknow what? It was cute and it made me laugh a lot, so I can't hate on it too much :-D

And that is TOTALLY what I am loving about this show. They take Tired Old Devices that have been done a billion times, and it's STILL HILARIOUS. And there were tiny, tiny pieces of plot (if you squinted and held your head to the side). :)

Zedd is never allowed to leave them AGAIN.

I second that.

Honestly, I would love this episode just because I desperately needed to laugh. And it accomplished that.

Ditto it all. I wonder how many takes they had to do for this episode, because I can easily imagine the actors playing if for all it was worth. : )

And if all that fun wasn't enough, there was even abs and playful skinny-dipping. This show is really too much fun.
