This morning, Harper is scare mongering for votes (this has been his style even before last night's news about bin Ladin. The Speech he gave, and he gave only one speech whether he was in a nursing home or a hockey arena, speaks of chaos lapping at our shores and refers to the election itself as dangerous), and begging for Liberal defectors.

The party that no one ever really took seriously is three points down. Three points down.

I made my decision before the election was called. I've been lucky enough to support a party that has never let me down, and always manages to run candidates I like in the ridings where I live. I have so much respect the people who took their time and did their research. If you have not yet made your decision, you have all day and I encourage you to make it, and then go and act on it.

Off to vote!

I have voted! For the first time in my life, I might have voted for the actual government, and not just my right to complain about it.

I have written three stories for Remix Madness!

(My link for Remix Madness is here.)

I have...listened to the Tangled sound track.

It's still early!

Even though I only signed up last night, people have remixed my stories! AND I AM THRILLED TO DEATH!

One of them is a remix of my Peril, Peril On The Sea, told from John's POV (which, I should mention, IS LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE): Our Brethren Shield In Danger's Hour. There's even bonus Nigel. *twirls*

AND

Someone remixed on of my Harry Potter fics, the Neville chapter chapter of "Before and After" The Boy Who Stayed, which expands on what Neville, Ginny and Luna actually did instead of just talking about it afterwards: Light in the Darkness

AND

There are more Sanctuary fics in the Madness that I haven't read yet! BEST REMIX EVER! :)

(I have my suspicions. That's all I'm saying.)

(Oh GOOD LORD, I can't wait until I gush properly.)

Also, I have signed up for [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth. My offer post is here. You can sign up by clicking on the banner:

I understand how the Conservatives got elected as a majority.

They got elected as a majority, because our electoral system is broken. And stupid. And unfair. And beyond that, we have three(ish) parties on the left and only one on the right. Obviously, the math is not hard.

I do not, DO NOT, understand how anyone voted for the Conservative Party of Canada today.

Leaving aside all the bullshit of tax breaks and tax cuts, of the complete insanity and ineffectiveness of their so-called childcare program, of their complete disrespect for the other parties and how this country works, of their intolerance and shortsightedness, of their fear mongering, war mongering and slander - leaving that aside:

THEY WERE FOUND IN CONTEMPT OF PARLIAMENT.

They lied. A LOT.

ETA: And Harper cheated. He campaigned on election day. This is illegal.

And 40% of us were dumb enough to vote for them again.

(ETA: Also, 40% of us were dumb enough not to show up AT ALL, which means that 40% of 60% (which is what, 25%?) of the country was enough to hand the man A DECADE OF POWER.)

I've moved past the point where I was rational enough to focus on the three great things that happened this election (the meteoric rise of the NDP, the complete and utter dissolution of the Bloc, and the fact that Elizabeth May might finally win her own seat and knock out a cabinet minister to do it), and now I'm just devastated.

What if the youth never show up again? What if Quebec never shows up again? What the hell is Layton supposed to do? What the hell are the Liberals supposed to do? How are we supposed to get electoral reform now? HOW WERE FORTY PERCENT OF US THIS DUMB?

I'm going to bed.
