Home Again

I am home from Thunder Bay, and I don't have to do anything for the rest of the month.

Um, except write my book.

I read ONE NIGHT FOR LOVE by Mary Balogh on the way home today. It's the story of Lily, who shows up again in the Survivors' Club books, and OH MY GOD, it was amazing. I want a hard cover of it, so that every time someone talks shit about romance novels, I can hit them over the head with it. It was so freaking good.

(Also, I totally over-identified with the heroine and CRIED MY EYES OUT in the airport lounge, and then read the last 100 pages or so on the plane grinning with absolute delight which I am sure confused my seat mate, but amused the hell out of the baby across the way from me, who according to his mother had just mastered waving and people, and was in a constant state of "HELLO!!!!" the whole time we were in the air.)

April List

1. Bring whiteboard or blackboard in from the car, so you can have this list on your wall.
2. Write one Hobbit fic a week for the month.
3. TAXES.
4. BENEFITS.
5. Write as much of "Desert Stories" as is humanly possible.
6. Start making the [surprise] for [that person].
7. Finish the [other surprise], while you're at it.
8. Organize blogs and give-aways for April, May and June (and July?).
9. Arrange meeting with Financial Planner.
10. Reorganize bookshelves (possibly this involves building another one), so that all your books are shelved and not stacked next to the bed.
11. More to follow.

In other news, if anyone comes to visit me this summer, we are going to the Toronto Zoo. I've decided. I haven't been in FOREVER, and the Australia Pavilion was closed, and...I really, really love that place. So yes. If you come visit me, that's what we're doing.

I haven't done a writing list in FOREVER, but since I wrote fic the other day and remembered that I like it, and since NaNo is coming...well, I do like lists.

The Great And Somewhat Over Hopeful Writing List For October

1. Finish or kill that "Five Times Darcy" fic.
2. Write trope-fic for [livejournal.com profile] tielan
3. Finish "Red Velvet".
4. Poke at Secret Project with other!Faith, and try to establish some ground rules before everything explodes.
5. Continue sketching and world building and sketching for Desert Stories and make sure [livejournal.com profile] lanna_kitty yells at me every time I start to panic. :)

I feel much better already.

Um...have a video about a hedgehog:

Book Day!

I don't know who decided that Tuesday would be The Day Stuff Comes Out, but I LOVE TUESDAYS.

Today, for example, I get NOCTURNE, by Christine Johnson (which is the sequel to a book I haven't read yet called "Claire de Lune", but I can't wait to get my hands on them!), and also SWEETLY, by Jackson Pearce, whose "Sisters Red" might be the best book I've read this year.

I can't buy either of them, of course, not yet, but just KNOWING THAT I CAN SOMEDAY makes me happy. I may go to Chapters later just to stare at the displays. ;)

I also woke up to a sunflower in my v-gifts this morning, and I LOVE sunflowers. And we went to Herle's last night (all farmer's market, all the time, pretty much), and so for breakfast I get to have at least four different kinds of fruit, and then awesome bread and veggies for lunch. And it's sunny. There's a lot of work to do, but I feel better about it today!
