So here we are. I made a vid. And it's not great. But it's done. And if you'll please ignore the blatant usage of 10-second long clips (I only really did that twice; the Parker one's a cheat), and that one time I made a montage of things blowing up, I'd be most appreciative. ;)
Also, I am not sure if the sound thing is my speakers or a quality issue.
*first vid butterflies*
Anyway, here it is on sendspace.
"Process" being a very loose term for it.
I have a bunch of completely storyboarded vids. With little pictures and notes about timing and which parts of the music I want to highlight. This vid began on Friday morning, when I thought to myself "Dammit, self. If you don't do this over the weekend, what else are you going to do?" It was very fly by the seat of my pants, but it was nice to just DIVE IN and not have to worry about the perfectionist in me derailing the whole thing.
(Hey self? Your perfectionist called. It's cold outside and she'd like to come back in now!)
Anyhoodle, I have no idea where I am going from here. But I am probably going somewhere. At some point in the future. See you along the way!
For my next trick, I will file my own tax return.

In totally unrelated news, the Ironic Closing Titles at the end of every episode of "True Blood" crack me the heck up.

This was awesome, Kate. You really got some energizing moments in here, and I'll probably go back and pick it apart in more detail later. I had no idea you were using "Baby Driver"! How fun!! *GG*
*scarfs down the rest of dinner and resumes sewing* I am kicking butt tonight.
But you kicked bigger butt big-time on your first vid. :-)

Date: 2010-03-16 01:41 am (UTC)I totally aimed for when Parker (the little girl)'s house blew up, and for Eliot and Hardison coming around the corner to "What's my number?", but the cartwheels were HAPPY ACCIDENTS that required only minor tweaking (the bit with the pencil, which I don't like so much, is in there so that the cartwheels could stay on beat.)
Glad you liked! I have a few other songs on my "perhaps" list...but I don't know what I'll do next yet. I don't know if I want to tackle BSG, and I don't know if I want to go link hunting for Atlantis. We'll see!

Date: 2010-03-16 08:51 am (UTC)It's interesting to read about your "process". When I first started vidding I would be terrified of beginning it until I had the whole thing storyboarded and roughly written out; then I just needed it storyboarded in my head; now I'm like, meh, I have a few key shot ideas - LET'S GO! (And inevitably panic as I'm vidding because I don't know what I'm going to put on the next line, but it usually works out... I think... :p) It's always interesting to learn how other people work.
Can't wait to see what you do next.

Date: 2010-03-16 05:44 pm (UTC)1. I had the house to myself for the weekend, so when I got home from work I could just turn on the TV for background noise and vid.
2. I had just finished mainlining the whole series, so it was fresh in my mind.
3. I just ploughed through a lot of things.
Next time, I don't plan to be quite so bullheaded about it, but I just wanted to get the first one done.
