Random BSG Moment of the Day (Vague Spoilers up to "No Exit", but anything important is cut)

Point: How cool is it that after all of this, after the Centurions creating a singular God, that it turns out all five of the Finals are sort of stepping into the Born Again God role? (I am thinking mostly of Sam's Moment with the Raider way back when)

Point: When, exactly did Boomer find out about Ellen? Jacob seems to think she knew by the Algae planet (thus as she was considering snapping Hera's neck and WAAAAAY before she voted against her model), and I was under the impression that it was a last minute thing. I may have been not reading the time chyrons by that point.

Point: Tom Zarek is sort of a douchebag. The more I think about it, the more I hate him. And I hope it's not because I was only on his side on New Caprica, and all the other times he's tried to overthrow the government I've wanted to Space him. With Tom, the third time was the charm (read: he worked with Laura Roslin), and then he suffered from an acute case of Adamaism (ie. Not Dying), and it's always all down hill from there.

Point: Kara Thrace will lead the human race to it's "end", right? That's the actual word? Which leaves it WIDE OPEN for a BRAND NEW SPECIES and not a holocaust.

Point: So what if there was a mutiny on Kobol too? And the mutineers (The Cylons) left? And that's what keeps up the Cycle of Violence? But since Adama STOPPED the mutiny, this time it's broken? Or maybe Narcho and the others will leave and START IT ALL AGAIN. Or maybe Adama really has done it and is actually the hero of the whole thing? (I can't even type that with a straight face...I only half mean it and the other half is trying to set beccatoria off.) ;)

Boomer found out about Ellen somewhere between New Caprica (Ellen's resurrection) and the algae planet (when the star went boom and John (heh) had her bring food to Ellen on the base star. That's where John (heh) made his big mistake and underestimated Boomer's free will.

Yep. Brand new species, made up of both Cylon and Human, and not another holocaust. Although this is BSG, so there may be a holocaust involved, anyway. :P

I have yet to watch No Exit for a second time (and then go back and watch everything in the context of No Exit!), so I was a bit fuzzy on the time line.

Also, yeah, Boomer definitely knew about Ellen by the time of the Algae planet because she was present for Cavil's crazy "I WANNA SMELL DARK MATTER!" rant which was precipitated by his cruddy experience watching the supernova. And that was after the scene where he introduced Boomer to her. So yeah, she knew when she was threatening to necksnap Hera.

To be honest, my dislike of the stopping of the mutiny stopping the cycle of violence stems less from the fact that it would make Adama the hero of the thing (although EWWW, stop committing acts of textual violence against my brain!) and more because the mutiny doesn't seem...epic enough? Like, it wasn't really about large scale human-cylon violence? I dunno. I think there has to be a point somewhere where the cycle breaks down.

Of course, the question is, how can you tell if the cycle has actually broken or if this is just...more of it?

Yeah, it does sort of make my brain hurt. But it's so nice to be this inspired by TV again after SUCH a long dry spot. It's like...Atlantis was sucking the GLEEE out of all of my entertainment, and now I just LOVE having something to think about again.

I just. There's bits I enjoy of BSG, and there's definitely good stuff about every 10 eps. But overall, I look at the hot mess that's the series in terms of writing and continuity and go, "THIS is what everyone's raving about? THIS crap?!?!"

I have this wonderful ability to a) only remember the things I liked and b) completely fit the world into my own view of it. So I LOVE Cally because I view her as this tiny girl who wanted to be a dentist before the world ended, and then got herself married to the Best Possible Choice in order to survice (who was the best because a) he is always at the top of something and b) after the jaw incident, he will never refuse her anything, ever again), and KNOWINGLY used another person's baby to do it. She had CRAPPY cards, but she SURVIVED, dammit, until she was actually murdered.

Um...yeah, Cally is sort of my soapbox character.

Anyhoodle, I am in it for the mytharc and the pretty space battles.

hee. I did love that fic you wrote. I think I commented on it under the other username.

What got me was RDM wrote both eps - the one where Cally was supposedly going to commit suicide with Nicky because she was freaked about Galen and Nicky was (supposedly) half-Cylon and the one where it was revealed that Nicky not only wasn't half-Cylon, but Cally knew about it.

...

The eps were less than six months apart. WTH, RDM? WTH?

Hee. I think the...what? Shock? Mortification? Horror? That such discrepancies can exist in the series, and we don't even blink any more, is part of why *I* keep watching. ;)

Then again, I have a twisted sense of humor.

I miss Cally, though. I'm kind of hoping for "...it's a Social Experiment and we're all Cylons!" just so's they can bring her back.

And the look on Gaeta's face in the resurrection tank would be HYSTERICAL.
