The stage was set...

The pieces were in play...

At this stage, I was concerned that it wasn't going to look right AT ALL.

But I figured that if I added enough chocolate, no one would care.

This is what the hat part looked like before I built it and smothered it with icing.

At this stage, I began to think that I had really got it right.

If I've learned nothing else from baking, it's that almost any problem can be solved with lots and lots of chocolate icing.

The feather is a bit big, I think...but also it's chocolate, so I don't care!

*sings theme song*

The cake is devil's food (made with chocolate pudding instead of milk), iced with chocolate icing, and the ribbon is painted on with chocolate. The feather is sculpted and stuck on.

I am leaving this unlocked.

Wow!!! (I am totally coveting your kitchen, BTW -- looks so nice and big, with cabinet space to spare ;)

(What was the mold for the...tall part of the hat? I've never seen a cake look like that before [not like a hat, just so...tall and round] :)

What a fun way to spend your birthday!!! :D I'm sure it'll be as delicious as it looks. :)

Very cool, thank you for alerting me to it! Excellent work on the sculpting and on the feather's edges. It's no small feat to make a hat that doesn't look weird or pointy, so you did great!

Happy birthday...and cut me a slice of that wonderful Indy hat! Indy's hat is The One Hat. I adore that hat. I have a Stetson similar to it which belonged to my dad. You did a great job! I've watched your last few posts concerning said hat with bated keyboard. The wait was worth it! Well done!
