Book #50: The Double Down, by Gwenda Bond
Jun. 24th, 2016 10:29 pmA follow up to "Fallout", this is another Lois Lane novel, and I really enjoyed it a lot. It still feels very Smallville, which is my way of saying that it's perfect. Watching Lois get better at journalism and friendship is great, and Bond's writing is super fun throughout. The secondary characters are developing nicely (girls who are friends! boys who are friends! rich white dudes who acknowledge their privilege and stop being jerks!), and "SmallvilleGuy" is JUST SUCH A CLEVER WAY OF DOING IT.
Also, there's a conspiracy thread growing in the background and I love it so much.
I can't wait for the next one, basically. Without question the best comic book novels going right now (we're staring down the barrel of a lot more, both Marvel and DC, and I honestly don't know if anyone will come close). So so so so so good.
