That Line From Jupiter Ascending

Yes. That one.
The thing I really (genuinely; all my love for Jupiter Ascending is genuine) love about That Line is that it is brilliant.
"I love dogs. I’ve always loved dogs."
It is totally ridiculous, of course, and without context it does sound sort of dumb, but in context it is GREAT, and, with only the vaguest of spoilers, I shall tell you why.
The line comes at the end of a long spiel about how terrible Jupiter is at boys. Like, she is up close and personal with Channing Tatum, and she is all “GOD, I AM SO TERRIBLE AT BOYS.” for about two minutes, and it’s wonderful because I like to think that in a similar situation, we would all be that terrible at boys.
And then he tries to help! He tries to explain how the universe works (again, because, let’s face it, it’s a lot to absorb), and what Splices are, and how they fit in, and he ends with “I have more in common with a dog than I have with you.”
And Jupiter, bless her smitten heart, says the first thing that pops into her head:
"I love dogs. I’ve always loved dogs."
Where the line get AMAZING, though, is right after that, when Channing Tatum leaves. Mila Kunis plays it perfectly, repeating the line again, but in a tone that clearly indicates she is thinking “WHY THE EFF DID I SAY THAT?”
You said it because you’re terrible at boys, Jupiter, but you are super honest and quick to adapt. And, ye gods, how I love you for it.
This movie. My heart.
