2014! Happened! And my book came out, and a bunch of other things happened, and still, somehow, I did fanfic. Because apparently that part of my brain is not going quiet.

Number of Fics: Seven, in three fandoms (Sleepy Hollow, The Hobbit, and Circle of Magic).

Total Word Count: 43,555 words of fan fiction. I can't really give an accurate count of words I did for novels this year, because I was all over the map in terms of projects. I worked on and edited a lot of things, much of which I can't talk about yet.

Favorite Story of the Year: Hands down, this is A Favourable Arrangement. I wanted to read a marriage of convenience, but there wasn't one, so I wrote it instead, and it was a BLAST.

Best Story of the Year: A Sky For The Seeing did exactly what I wanted it to in terms of structure and feel. I don't build too many stories (usually they just happen), but I put a lot of effort into this one, and I think it paid off.

Most Fun Story to Write: Oh, this one has GOT to be A Knot That Ties Four Ways, which I wrote in a Starbucks with [livejournal.com profile] emmaorgana, while two old ladies had the most awkward conversation in the HISTORY OF TIME right across from us. Magic.

Sexiest Story: I really like UNDER THE MOUNTAIN, which is the second chapter of The Years Between. They are so good at each other.

Hardest Story to Write: OH GOD, remember how on Monday, I was all "I am going to write 3K of fic and wrap up this Fili/Sigrid thing before New Years", and then three days later, had written NINE THOUSAND WORDS to finally finish it? Yeah, it's An Inevitable Outcome, no contest.

Easiest Story to Write: The Study of the Blade. Admittedly, I sat on this for a while (like, right after I saw AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY INTO DWARF FEELINGS. It's the first sketch of fic in my Hobbit folder), but once I actually sat down and did it, Elrond just took over and got it done. He is pretty great when you listen to him.

Biggest Changes This Year: Did I change? I'm not sure I did.

Goals: As always, further up and further in! Next year, if everything proceeds as planned, I will write a book, write AND edit a book, edit a book, and launch two books. And there is a slight possibility that I will have to do MORE than that. I am pretty excited, to be honest. This is a lot of fun. I realized this week that the Fili/Sigrid story was written totally for my ego. People loved it, and it cost me so little to give. I want to hold on to that part of writing; the part where it's FUN. I think that's why I just keep coming back to fan fiction.

(Well, THAT AND ALL THE KISSING.) ;)

A truly impressive, successful year! I really must catch up on fandoms so I can properly enjoy your fanfic, but I can hardly wait for you next book to go on sale.

GO YOU in 2015 and beyond!

The Study of the Blade is one of my absolute favorites of yours. It's so good -- and I love all the little details, like Elrond's sleeves catching the wind as he descends. It's just gorgeous.

(I will have deep and thoughtful replies to your email when I have half a minute to think. The Child is out of school and I'm on squidwrangling duty 24/7 until Monday.)
