I was disappointed with Beorn's absence (again!) in this film... he should've killed Bolg not Legolas!
All of his scenes were great (OH GOD, THE ARKENSTONE!), and even though the part where Thorin threatened to kill him didn’t quite live up to my hopes for it, I was still very impressed by the entire “thief in the night” sequence (except the part where Thranduil ordered his archers to shoot anything that moved and then they DIDN’T SEE BILBO even though he wasn’t wearing the Ring). I liked the bit with the acorn and having the contract during the auction and the conversation with Gandalf and then, of course, the bookend with Ian Holm. Yes, all Freeman's scenes were awesome. I expected more Ring usage by Bilbo but even in DoS, PJ didn't have Bilbo use it to the extent he did in teh book. I liked how "Thief in the NIght" was done overall but you have a great point about the archers not seeing Bilbo lol... the Hobbit is hard to hear but their Elven eyes can see better can't they?
My feelings are so fragile right now, you have no idea... i need to see it a third time ... i dont know why, i just feel like i have to. :P
RIGHT, like I was all "I am not even wearing shipper goggles right now, but GOOD LORDE."
Kili/Tauriel made me 100% more sad than I was expecting. UGH, EVANGELINE LILY WAS SO GOOD.
(I am endlessly, ENDLESSLY amused by the complete misfire on the part of marketing, who were all "Kili will be the hot one! Everyone will love him!" Which, I mean, people liked him, but hahahahahaha, because: Fili.)

I need all the fix-it fics in the history of ever after that.
I'm really looking forward to the extended edition because it's obvious that a lot of it was cut, to the point where transitions are awkward at times.
I've seen it five times so far and the film always makes me teary-eyed and gets me crying when Bilbo is saying goodbye to the company.
The scene with the acorn is so beautiful and ugh, I cannot.

Date: 2014-12-24 10:49 pm (UTC)...also, LORDY did PJ have them play up the Thorin/Bilbo angle. Wow. Granted, I'm OK with that, but wow.
And yeah, definitely agreed with you on way too much obnoxious side kick villian guy. Almost lost me every scene he was in.
