Clone Wars: "Season Two"

So I was going to be all "Oh, season two was lovely. Very fighting. Much battle." except then I met Satine, and OH GOD, it was everything I never knew I wanted.

(Lies: it's exactly what I always love.)

So anyway, the arc started, and I tweeted to emmaorgana: I can't tell if Obi-wan is just really sassy or if he is hitting on every person he talks to, and then we agreed it was probably both. Because: damn. And then I realized the second episode was called something ridiculous like VOYAGE OF TEMPTATION!, and I was all "Probably not the kissing kind of temptation", except then IT TOTALLY WAS.

Satine: I take it you're all acquainted with the collection of hyperbole and half-truths that is Obi-wan Kenobi.
Me: Damn, if he won't make out with her, I will.

AND THEN THEIR BACKSTORY WAS RIDICULOUS. AND AMAZING. AND I WANT THAT FIC FOR YULETIDE. (Or as many non-spoilery recs as exist. I mean, I have assumptions about what happens (because: PREQUEL), but I am IN DENIAL. MUCH LIKE OBI-WAN AND SATINE. SHUT UP.)

And then Anakin basically made fun of Obi-wan for ten minutes, and it was GLORIOUS, and ended up with the most hilarious kidnapping attempt in the HISTORY OF TIME, and then a beautiful moment where plot, dialogue, music, and Anakin's lightsabre all came together in one of those moments that make me heartbroken (well, not really: I accepted Darth Vader a long time ago. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a well-placed music cue!).

I think my other favourite part of season two was when Obi-wan said a nice thing about Rex, and I was all "Man, if this were any other show I'd be kind of worried right...WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HE IS SUPPOSED TO LIVE!" and then we all, like, grew as people and stuff once Rex eventually got rescued.

OH NO WAIT: I liked EVERYTHING that Ahsoka and Maris (Varis? It was hard to hear) did. I like that the writers take every opportunity they can to give me female characters, since they have a bit of work to manage it on a regular basis.

As for the last arc, I'm not a huge Bounty Hunter fan, but I did surprise myself by recognizing Boba Fett's hair cut right away. So that was interesting, at least. Though, seriously, Mace Windu. Would a little grace (or PR) have KILLED you?

I love Ahsoka's fight style. Actually, I think that, generally speaking, the animation really allows them to utilize the lightsabres in the best way. You can really SEE why one Jedi is so freaking GOOD. It's fun.

Do you mean Barriss Offee? She teamed with Ahsoka at some point in season 2.

You mean the fact Ahsoka fights with a reversed grip, like on my icon here?

Yes, Barriss. I have such a rough time with the Star Wars names.

I did get the links. I've decided to wait until I'm done and go back (since I am so far in). I think my favourite ep is FLIGHT OF TEMPTATION, because I am not this show's target market. ;)

I honestly don't think this show has a target market. Or if the marketing team had one in mind, the people who made it completely ignored it and did whatever they wanted.

Satine/Obi-Wan are my OTP for this show. Voyage of Temptation is one of my all time favorite episodes in this series, both for the pairing, and Anakin making fun of Obi-Wan. "You go save your girlfriend." "She's not my--"

Uh-huh. Sure Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan and Satine. Yep, only gets better as the series goes on. There is some amazing stuff, and story arc, between these two.
