Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] frith_in_thorns. Pick a question to ask me in the comments! You can narrow it to a specific fandom, if you like.

1. Of the fic you’ve written, of which are you most proud?
2. Favorite tense
3. Favorite POV
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
5. What inspires you to write?
6. Thoughts on critique
7. Create a character on the spot... NOW!
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
9. A passage from a WIP
10. What are your strengths in writing?
11. What are your weaknesses in writing?
12. Anything else that you want to know... (otherwise known as Fill in the Blank)

What are your strengths in writing?

According to my reviews (she said, sounding a bit pretentious!), it's world-building and character development. ;)

Seriously, though, I think my real strength as a writer is my ability to write what is requested of me, and write it well on a deadline. Even in first year of Uni, I was very good at handing in a B+ paper that I had written that morning! Now, I turn in drafts with a bit more work behind them, but when my editor says something like "I need 18K of world-building, covering these six ideas in a week", I can do it, and it doesn't suck.

It does require a lot of coffee and chocolate sometimes, though. :)

It's good to know your strengths, and I like the way you describe them. :)

I'm not sure if I have ever done an OC for this fandom! I mean, sometimes I borrow other people's or use ones that PJ created but...

OH WAIT, let me tell you about THE ROHAN PROJECT.

(Yeah, it's kind of not "on the spot" WHATEVER. You are getting SIX for the price of ONE.)

SO!

The Rohan Project was a thing created by me, back in 2007 when I was young and foolish and desperately thinking of things to do that weren't writing my MSc dissertation. The idea was that I could do a story for each of Éomer and Lothiriel's six children, five of which I invented out of wholecloth.

Théodred, later in life Théodred Elfwine (Elfwine is his name in the appendices, but I don't think even Éomer would do that to a child on purpose), is the heir and marries the daughter of Erkenbrand (poor Erkenbrand! He and Glorfindel can start a club), and has Théowyn as his own heir. He is Merry's godson (ish, the translation is a bit fuzzy), and I totally don't remember what was supposed to happen in his story, because it was 2007.

Morwen is a true Shieldmaiden, and never marries, and they write songs about her, and her story about fighting Orcs in the Westfold.

Éodoc was my faaaaavourite. He was not a warrior, but a scholar instead, and they called him Éodoc Blackfingered in his majority. He spent a lot of time with his uncle-by-marrige, Faramir, because they had a lot in common, and it's he who writes The Latter Days of the House of Éorl, which I use shamelessly to end fics I don't otherwise know how to tie off. He also hangs out with Gimli and Legolas a bit (because, favourite), and translates some dwarvish histories into common. He also accidentally picks up some of the dwarvish sign language, because he's observant and can't help it.

Théohil I mostly stole from David Eddings. He's Hettar, the Horse Lord, and I didn't even try to hide it. In his story, he finds Celeborn scoping out horses and is all "Dude, we can't really spare any right now because our herds kind of got culled and we're recovering?" and Celeborn's all "Dude, I can totally wait. I have literally nothing but time, and you seem cooler than Thranduil" so they hang out for a bit and trade horse magic or something.

And last is Findulas, named for her great-aunt. She's basically as elf-like as you can get without actually being an elf, and everyone loves the crap out of her because she is just so damn adorable. She meets Arwen and is besotted, so when she's sixteen they send her to Minas Tirith, and she becomes one of the Queen's ladies in waiting (like Elanor did), and Imrahil is thrilled to death, because he misses his sister.

...damn, I love those kids.

Ahahaha I remember stumbling onto the Rohan project! Love all of these guys already in my head. So cute.

...also, I have re-fallen into Eomer/Lotheriel fics... it is a slippery slippery slope I tell you!

Gah, love them so much. Le sigh!

I was debating on doing another Porn Battle fill, but my last one completely lacked porn, and I couldn't get my brain to even settle on a fandom, let alone a prompt. So I figured it might be time to give in the ghost. I still managed 4, so I feel productive.

I'm not sure if I've ever written a character I didn't like writing, though a few were harder to get a grip on than others.

I love love love writing Helen Magnus, James Watson, Nikola Tesla and John Druitt, though. And Nigel, when he's alive to be written. You could anything with those five.
