Thor: When Dark Elves Attack
Nov. 16th, 2013 10:14 pmAgain, I would like to thank you all for sitting on this and using spoiler cuts. Certain things were completely surprising to me, and that was truly excellent.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I loved this movie so much. It had everything I loved about the first one, and then CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON. I was very pleased.
I loved the structure of the story, and how you could kind of figure things out and how everything was tied together. It was very well written, and almost everything, from Jane's date to the car keys, ended up being important later. I will watch that kind of attention to detail all. day. long.
I loved spending more time with the characters that we met in the first THOR installment (even though it was kind of The Warriors Two and a Half this time around), and getting some of their motivations and skills closer to the plot. I was a bit miffed that Frigga died, but at least she chose her death, and it was only kind of a fridging.
I loved all the Earth bits (except Selvig. Lord, I am SO OVER Selvig). Darcy was basically the Continuity Fairy, and I don't even care! It was funny and I loved it.
THE CAPTAIN AMERICA CAMEO, OH MY GOD. I laughed so hard I cried. It was beautiful.
ALSO, THE BORG QUEEN! I LOVE HER SO MUCH, even though I spent the first few minutes being all "Wait, she's NOT Tilda Swinton...who is she?" and then she said "soul" and I had her. :)
I loved the finale SO MUCH. The fight sequence, with everyone/everything falling through all the dimensions was just fantastic. I really, really hope there's a "Marvel Extra" that just follows the hammer around. THAT WOULD BE FUNNY.
I am a bit sad that Thor is an effective planner now that he is no longer trying to hug it out with everyone, but I suppose that was inevitable.
Jane Foster, I love you. You are perfect. NEVER CHANGE.
If someone wants to make me an icon with Thor hanging his hammer on the coat rack, I will totally love you forever. HE'S SO DAMN POLITE.
I loved the ending (um, the extra ending. Obviously I didn't care much for how the movie ended), because SCIENCE WITH BENEFITS!!!!!
OH, and also the Captain America trailer we got was LOVELY. Good evening all around. And no more painful than anything else I do, which bodes well for THE HOBBIT!

Date: 2013-11-17 03:27 pm (UTC)I loved Heimdall and the fact that they showed him outside of his gate duties, and the fact that he occasionally gets to get into town. That he takes his helmet off once in a while!

Date: 2013-11-17 05:25 pm (UTC)Plus all the "side" characters were so freaking fantastic. We actually got to see the Warriors Three and Sif as characters as opposed to comic relief. Plus their badassery levels were all sorts of dialed up. As I love Ray Stevenson I can only approve of this. I am finally excited about the fact that three movies were planned!

Date: 2013-11-18 02:10 am (UTC)This was my first time seeing the Cap 2 trailer. I thought it was interesting how most of the conflict is portrayed as being between Steve and SHIELD/Fury, with Bucky kind of relegated to a couple of scenes. But NATAAAASHA. *sigh* I just wish there had been a way to get Renner involved also...
