Sleepy Hollow: Blood Moon

This episode was a bit creepier, I thought.
Also, I had something funny to say about heads, but it's a huge spoiler because AHAHAHAHAHAHA, JOHN CHO. It probably wasn't supposed to be funny? But I thought it was really funny.
Ichabod vs. the Hotel Room was just as lovely as I was hoping, as was the whole scene with the doughnuts. I desperately, desperately hope that they decided to make Abbie a lieutenant instead of anything else, and also never promote her, specifically so that Ichabod can keep pronouncing lieutenant correctly.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBIE. I hope hope hope hope that she lit the fire after the torch guttered. THAT WOULD BE EXCELLENT.
Jennifer Mills! I AM EXCITED ABOUT THIS TOO.
I had other things to say, but they are not important. Generally, I think the second ep held up very well. I love the opening credits. The music amuses me tremendously. Ichabod has excellent boots and should always wear period clothes. 10% tax on doughnuts is a lot, now that I think about it. FINGERBONES AND RIBCAGES DON'T LOOK LIKE THAT AFTER THEY DECOMPOSE. I want them to stop talking about the American revolution. Um. That really is all.
Note from last week: I am pretty sure that the population of Sleepy Hollow was 144,000. Even though there have been at least five deaths since then, consider the following:
Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. Revelation 14:1

Date: 2013-09-24 11:12 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, that not going to happen (not yet anyway) since that's the last era he remembers being in and it's integral to the story. Would I like them to cut down on the we-are-the-only-two-that-can-save-the-planet thing? Definitely, but that's not going to happen either.
Overall, I liked the second episode and I have hopes for the series in general. The real population of Sleepy Hollow, NY is 9,944 so much, much lower than the figure of the show. Base sales tax is 4% in New York but cities/counties can add their own. Westchester County has a total rate of 7.375%. Still don't know where they got the 10% from though.
And her saying to Clancy Brown's character, "If you're going to haunt me please be useful." or something like that was gold. :-)

Date: 2013-09-25 12:16 am (UTC)So you are thinking that maybe Abbie lit the fire with her mind or special powers or something? Interesting. I didn't think of that, just assumed that it was old gunpowder and took a second to catch, mostly for dramatic effect. But I'd be on board with it being her doing!
Ichabod vs the Hotel Room was really great. And I love how quick-thinking they both are, like when he said he was a professor of history. There were some hand-wavy moments, like all of the secret underground things being exactly where they were left 240ish years ago. But I am more willing to handwave with scifi shows. :)
Yeah, solid 2nd outing. I'm looking forward to more!

Ahem.
Sorry, it was bugging me.
Also ditto on the lieutenant thing. Every time he says it I get a pleasant little shiver.
Zombie!JohnCho should just be a thing. He should show up on every tv show in some capacity.

Date: 2013-09-26 01:37 am (UTC)I think I missed something along the way, but if the chief's files were in the old archive room, then either, yes, someone's been along the path since Ichabod's time (as mentioned, the metal ladder was a bwuh? moment), or else the archive room is otherwise used, because how did the records get there??
Do you recall any kind of physical description of Crane in the book? (It's been a really long time since I read it.) I have it in my head that he was very tall and thin (and given his relative height now, he'd've been quite tall a couple centuries back), but I don't know if that's a weird detail that survived the decades or if I just associate 'Crane' with 'tall', and also the shape of 'Ichabod' lends itself to 'tall and thin'.
(This is how my brain works.)
