"Well, that one's certainly grown," he said, nodding at Fíli.

"I'm seven!" He said proudly.

"Fee, gimme duck," Kíli said, speaking quietly for once. Fíli graciously handed the toy over and took up a little boat instead. With the children distracted for a moment, Dwalin looked over at Thorin who now leaned over with his head again the rim of the tub, the very image of a man overwhelmed.

Dwalin burst out laughing.

"Shut up," growled Thorin.

I read that one earlier.

In this fandom, I find myself reading a lot of fics that don't make canon-sense at all, turning my brain off to enjoy them, and looking for the canon-compliant spot-on fics, kinda like this one.

I know! I was totally expecting whacked out crack-fic, and instead it was JUST PERFECT.

I also find that I read a lot more baby-sitting fics in Middle Earth (um, also I WROTE one, back in the day), because it's (usually) less creepy. By which I mean less likely to include incest.

I just can't with the incest. Not just in this fandom, I can't ever. I can't with the fan-created incestuous pairings. And if someone has the bad idea to write Turin & Niniel's wedding night, you won't find me reading that one either.

I'll admit I enjoy Bilbo/Thorin though. Bilbo/Kili is adorable for some reason. And I might end up being sold on Fili/Bofur.

But mostly, as ever, why isn't there more gen? *headdesk*

I'm working on the Morgul prompt and also one where Baby!Estel watches the Dwarves and...possibly helps them "escape"?

Related: do you have an icon that's Thorin, Fili and Kili? I don't think they're ever together, but I need a "APPARENTLY I HAVE FEELINGS FOR THE DWARVES" icon, and I'd like a group shot. Perhaps from "That's What Bilbo Baggins Hates", if the caps are good...

I'm not sure they need help but perhaps there needs to be the fic where Gandalf tells the dwarves they need to leave pronto (after the rune-reading scene?). After all, as Galadriel said, he knew. And I can't help reading this as "because he was the one who told them to do so".

I have Fili & Kili and Fili & Thorin (also Thorin & Balin). However, I think I have an image where the three of them are together so I could try and make something out of it.
