So this book is mostly about dragons and music and politics. Which, I will admit, scared the CRAP out of me, because that is also kind of what my book is about. Fortunately, they are about as alike as The Hunger Games and Ender's Game. Which is great news for me, because HOLY CATS, THIS BOOK!

I don't even know where to START. We're going to jump straight to the numbered list, because I have to be at work in seven hours, and it's going to take me a while to calm down.

1. DRAGONS. OMG, NEW DRAGONS! HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? I DON'T EVEN KNOW. I am impressed. And jealous. AND IMPRESSED. UGH.

1a. The dragons were draconian. In the actual sense. I am SUCH A DORK.

2. The religion was huge and developed and ridiculous and I KIND OF WANT TO MAKE OUT WITH IT.

3. Also, the music was amazing.

4. And there were several moments where I laughed until I cried.

5. And there were several moments where I just cried.

6. AND THERE IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER ONE!

7. And it had the WORST LOVE TRIANGLE EVER. But, you know, IN THE GOOD WAY. Polyamory is the only solution. They will all three of them just have to marry each other.

7a. UGH, YOU GUYS! THEY ARE ALL SO AWESOME AND ADORABLE AND I WANT TO HUG THEM AND EMMA IS GOING TO DIE EVEN MORE THAN I DID AND I CAN'T EVEN!

8. Hartman totally gave it away early on, and I was so distracted by the GLEE of EVERYTHING that I didn't notice until exactly when she wanted me too! It was BRILLIANT.

9. Bagpipes.

10. There's no map (which pains me), but the list of characters at the end is SO FUNNY that I almost don't care. It's the book equivalent of staying to the after credits portion of a Marvel superhero movie. I just laughed and laughed and laughed.

So 10/10, obviously. For being awesome, having music, having religion, having science, having dragons, having NEW dragons, making me love a love triangle, having several female characters that were so awesome I wept with joy, for being laugh out loud funny, for the best character list OF ALL TIME and for...JUST FOR EVERYTHING.

SERAPHINA's official release date is tomorrow, so you can track it down as soon as the stores open. :)

*carefully squints past spoilers* I can't waaaaait for this book, and damn it, I just placed an Amazon order yesterday, but I'ma gonna order it anyway because I want her first-week sales to be good. \o/ We were friends back in the day, and then lost touch when we both moved and life happened, but I hooked up with her recently via Facebook and eeeee, RACHEL HAS A BOOK!!!!! I don't have to know a thing about it (well, other than it has dragons in it *g*) to know it'll be good; I adored the stuff she was writing ten years ago and I always knew she'd go places. SQUEE. \o/

Ever since I found out that first-week sales are so important to authors and publishers, I've been trying to buy books on their first week for authors I want to support, even if I can't read them for awhile. (Which is the case here - we have family staying with us, so no sneaking off to a corner with a book, but I went and picked it up from B&N this morning anyway!)

Yes, they are important, and I am really glad that pre-orders count towards that week! I have a while to wait, but I'm kind of watching what other people do, and trying to figure out the best way to be "OMG, PLEASE BUY MY BOOK THIS WEEK!" without being annoying! :)
