So I almost never recommend a book before I finish reading it, but ALL OF YOU (specifically [livejournal.com profile] redbrunja, [livejournal.com profile] amenirdis, [livejournal.com profile] dbalthasar, [livejournal.com profile] eldanna, [livejournal.com profile] oparu and [livejournal.com profile] penknife) should really pre-order CODE NAME VERITY by Elizabeth E Wein as soon as possible. It comes out on May 15 in North America. If you live in England, you can get it already.

CODE NAME VERITY takes place in WWII, and features the story of a Scottish aristocrat who has become a wireless operator and a English girl who has become a pilot. It is the story of their friendship, training, experience in wartime England (and a bit in Scotland), and also what happens when the pair of them end up on a disastrous mission in France.

I've basically been having a series of heart attacks since I started reading this. It's everything that made THE BOOK THIEF amazing, times about million. Airplanes, spies, codes, motorcycles, Scottish common sense, survival...and friendship.

I would say more, but I have to go finish the ARC now. If you buy it, you will NOT be disappointed.

Can I borrow it in December? Buying books that have to be moved to various locations for the next few years is not on my priority list. Which is why 2/3rds of the Hunger Games got left in Canada. Books are bloody heavy!

It might be paperback in the UK. Or you could sign up for NetGalley and get the ARC. :)

But yes. I'll have bought it by then and you can borrow it.

Will probably just wait and borrow. I've got more than enough to read/write until December.

Ooh, sounds interesting! Is it YA or adult?

It's YA. And I probably should have specified that the Scottish character is also female. It's...amazing. I'm about half-way through part two now, and I am HYPERVENTILATING ALL OVER THE PLACE.
