The Inquisitor's Apprentice, by Chris Moriarty. Jewish Magic, alternate history, fabulous world building...and probably the best book I read in 2011.

Book review. Oooops!!! A HUGE, month-long piece of dramadrama ended in my home last night and I can now devote the entire rainy weekend to finishing my beta of your book. Sorry! I had intended to finish it way before now, but I haven't been able to turn that computer on for over a week for babysitting a miserable issue in the form of a no longer welcome house guest that finally got the boot last night. :)
