HEE!
This was quite adorable and I loved it, even though the cold open was quite thoroughly blown for me before the episode even aired. I should pay closer (or less?) attention to some of the retweets on my twitter feed.
BUT!
Even knowing that Nikola was going to show up (and with a lovely and hilariously written entry), I was still impressed by how far the episode went. And the part where "saving" Adam never became an issue. He's now been disintegrated and confined to being a robotic bug. I am TOTALLY ON BOARD with this.
Ashley TOTALLY MADE ME CRY. I was NOT EXPECTING THAT. And, as always, Amanda Tapping had about 400 facial expressions that JUST DESTROYED me.
I kind of loved how their talk at the beginning was kind of a reversal of how Nikola episodes usually start (with all the "reckless" and so on).
And I liked Helen's fake out, which I thought was telegraphed just enough (by all of Will's line about how he'd been brain sucked twice), and then wonderfully sold by everyone involved. There's just something SO AWESOME about watching someone you don't like walk into a trap you feel like you've helped lay down for them.
AND THE BIG GUY MISSES KATE! *pets them all*
(I bet you anything they get down to Hollow Earth and John is waiting for them, having been saved by someone and then gone into hiding or...something.)
And the denoument. OH, HOW I LOVE THEM. But seriously, Nikola? HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING? Helen Magnus does not CHOOSE. Helen Magnus REWRITES THE GODDAMN UNIVERSE until it does what she wants it to do. Asking that kind of question is for lesser immortals.
If someone wants to write me a version of this episode with EVERYONE EVER in it? I would be cool with that. (Or, you know, Springtime in Vienna...) ;)
Overall I was quite pleased with everything. Possibly my favourite ep since Tempus.

SOOOOOOOO much potential for shallow in this episode. I do not mind a bit. ;)

Date: 2011-12-05 11:42 pm (UTC)I will be honest - when I saw Ashley, I had a minute of "why are they reminding us who this is? Amanda, what are you plotting?" We, technically, didn't see a body.

Date: 2011-12-06 05:44 am (UTC)She really really does.
But if Helen had had to choose, she probably would have chosen Adam to have Will's body, on account that giving him the body of an immortal magnetic vampire would have been far worse than him having the body of a regular human.

OH, and I loved the way they worked in "Hyde". That was AWESOME.

Date: 2011-12-06 09:53 pm (UTC)Ha, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking at that point in the show. Assuming that she had been making the decision for real, it's really a no-brainer -- what it comes down to is not who she cares about most, but just that giving Tesla's body to Adam would be the worst idea in the entire history of bad ideas!
