HEE!

This was quite adorable and I loved it, even though the cold open was quite thoroughly blown for me before the episode even aired. I should pay closer (or less?) attention to some of the retweets on my twitter feed.

BUT!

Even knowing that Nikola was going to show up (and with a lovely and hilariously written entry), I was still impressed by how far the episode went. And the part where "saving" Adam never became an issue. He's now been disintegrated and confined to being a robotic bug. I am TOTALLY ON BOARD with this.

Ashley TOTALLY MADE ME CRY. I was NOT EXPECTING THAT. And, as always, Amanda Tapping had about 400 facial expressions that JUST DESTROYED me.

I kind of loved how their talk at the beginning was kind of a reversal of how Nikola episodes usually start (with all the "reckless" and so on).

And I liked Helen's fake out, which I thought was telegraphed just enough (by all of Will's line about how he'd been brain sucked twice), and then wonderfully sold by everyone involved. There's just something SO AWESOME about watching someone you don't like walk into a trap you feel like you've helped lay down for them.

AND THE BIG GUY MISSES KATE! *pets them all*

(I bet you anything they get down to Hollow Earth and John is waiting for them, having been saved by someone and then gone into hiding or...something.)

And the denoument. OH, HOW I LOVE THEM. But seriously, Nikola? HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING? Helen Magnus does not CHOOSE. Helen Magnus REWRITES THE GODDAMN UNIVERSE until it does what she wants it to do. Asking that kind of question is for lesser immortals.

If someone wants to write me a version of this episode with EVERYONE EVER in it? I would be cool with that. (Or, you know, Springtime in Vienna...) ;)

Overall I was quite pleased with everything. Possibly my favourite ep since Tempus.

Nikola and Ashley? In the same ep? *perks up*

(for the record, that's not shippy preference. Just double wham incentive) ;-)

Oh, you know, where Adam tortures Helen will all the deaths of people she loved and meantime, other versions of them are talking to Helen until she can figure out a way to kick Adam's ass. Basically "Breach", but with more flashbacks and hugging.

(I may or may not have James-related withdrawal...)

Huh. You know, I don't think I ever watched all of breach. I don't remember trippy dream people talking to helen. My mind went to Babylon 5 when I read your description.

also :P I don't need more plotbunnied (trippy semi-dream sequences like this are a thing I LOVE writing)

It's possible that I'm confusing Breach and FK&C, but I think there are a few flashbacks in Breach. In any case, I know we get Adam's side of it in the first episode, and then in FK&C we get Helen's along with more context for his (and then, though they are quite different, we always get Adam's in the "previouslies").

Haha. Yeah, I figured if Ashley was really, really back I would have gotten a much bigger wave of reaction out here on the fringe/shore. A lot of it from you directed specifically at me. ;-)

That was a really fun episode. :D I don't think it did it for me quite as much as the last Tesla episode (because the last one hit my fictive kinks so hard), but all in all I thought it was a better-written episode, so it balanced out. It was a very clever fakeout at the end, and it had been set up adequately enough that it didn't feel like it came out of nowhere. And I loved that it was reciprocal saving each other in the Ashley scene -- not just Tesla getting his vamp on because he couldn't stand to watch pseudo-Adam torturing Helen (which I liked on a purely shallow level *g*), but then Helen getting her adrenaline on and saving him. Just a fun episode all over. :D

SAVING EACH OTHER FTW!

(Also, Nikola vamped out while under in the real world LOOKED HILARIOUS, just saying.)

SOOOOOOOO much potential for shallow in this episode. I do not mind a bit. ;)

It really was a good ep.

I will be honest - when I saw Ashley, I had a minute of "why are they reminding us who this is? Amanda, what are you plotting?" We, technically, didn't see a body.

She really really does.

But if Helen had had to choose, she probably would have chosen Adam to have Will's body, on account that giving him the body of an immortal magnetic vampire would have been far worse than him having the body of a regular human.

I did think of that after I posted. Adam-the-Vampire would suck.

Um...yeah.

OH, and I loved the way they worked in "Hyde". That was AWESOME.

Ha, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking at that point in the show. Assuming that she had been making the decision for real, it's really a no-brainer -- what it comes down to is not who she cares about most, but just that giving Tesla's body to Adam would be the worst idea in the entire history of bad ideas!
