Hello, f-list!

Our very own [livejournal.com profile] laura_josephsen has published a new book! Technically, it's real!world teen, but it's also about writing (and, you know, being alive), so I think it's got a wide reach. I read it about ten seconds after the first draft was done, on December 1 after NaNo of 2008, and I laughed so hard through most of it (um, except the part where I panicked and checked the ending to make sure I wasn't going to need an unreasonable amount of kleenex), that OB-Wan kept yelling "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" from the TV room.

It is called "Confessions from the Realm of the Underworld (Also Known As High School)", and it features...well, it features just about every cliche you can possibly imagine. It also has epically long chapter titles, which pleases me beyond measure, and a main character that I just adore to distraction. It's a bit of a departure, stylistically, from "Restoration", in that it's not fantasy based at all...but it's definitely worth the read.

Right now, the Kindle version is available, but the paper copy will be along soon.

"Write what you know."

Persephone "Sephie" Benson scoffs when her creative writing teacher throws that little gem out there. Maybe this advice would work for a professional skydiver or a baseball star or a ninja princess. It's not so great for a high school student who doesn't even know what to do with the rest of her life. Add in being the oldest of six girls, having Responsibilities with a capital R, and living in a town the size of a tick, and you've got a recipe for boring soup.

At least, that's what Sephie thinks until her senior year. Now, her grandfather is losing his house. One of her sisters plays a starring role in the local high school scandal. Even things with her best friend Joey aren't the same.

As Sephie deals with the changes in her life, she finds that nothing is quite what she expects—and that sometimes, the most extraordinary life can be the one that seems the most ordinary.

Seriously. $2.99 on Kindle. Many laughs. Excellent Names of Things (And Also People).

Mostly I'm annoyed that I can't buy it RIGHT NOW (again! I have TERRIBLE TIMING when it comes to your books!), but I will get it when I get home. ;)

(Or, you know, poke the hard drive copy until then...)

I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!

LOL! Well, you'll have something to look forward to. ;) And maybe by the time you're home, the paperback version will be up.

THANK YOU!! *GLOMPS* You helped keep me motivated when I was writing this, with all of your insane word counts on The Stone Thief. ;)

We raced! ;) And I forgot until you mentioned it, but I'll totally have to mention in the acknowledgements for "The Stone Thief" that it and "Confessions" are NaNo cousins...;)

LOL! There were a lot of NaNo cousins that year! It seemed like everyone was doing it.
