THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FLAIL IN THE ENTIRE WORLD FOR WHAT I AM FEELING RIGHT NOW AND HOLY CRAP I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED EXCEPT IT TOTALLY DID AND OMFG: THE FLAIL!

Okay, so if I didn't already love Helen Magnus, I would have loved her for the whole "Go out and buy me a vacant lot" scene because THAT WAS AWESOME. And then John, glorious moron that he is, showed up, and I may have yelled "BUT THAT WAS TWO DIFFERENT YEARS!" and apparently no one was listening to me, but I DON'T CARE because Helen called him on his magnificent bullshit AND IT WAS GLORIOUS AND OMG, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO THINK ANY MORE (but I am hella glad that neither of my Big Bangs this summer are Helen/John). BEST. OTP. EVER!

(OH, I love them. I love them so freaking much. And I love Helen Magnus more than I've ever loved a fictional character IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.)

I really, really wanted Adam Worth to be dead and I really, really have no idea how the fuck they're going to write themselves out of this without a tactical nuke (in the present, anyway, I have NO FUCKING CLUE what's going to happen in the past, but let me get to that later), but I am strangely optimistic because aside from the part in the fight scene where tiny!Will was baiting WWE dude, this was the best Will we've seen all season (except, maybe, if you want the UN and the Army to take you seriously, you should wear a button down instead of dressing like a hipster?). So I have no idea how they're getting out of this, but these guys did write a million years of Stargate without ever letting the public know, so I have faith.

Plus Kate is going to rescue the Big Guy (OH, DID I EVER SHRIEK WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS HIM!), and that will be EPIC and THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS FOREVER and I LOVE KATE FREELANDER.

OH GOD I CAN'T EVEN SAY IT:

1898. 1898. FRAK ME, THERE'S TIME TRAVEL AND I DON'T EVEN CARE!

I WAS NOT PREPARED!

(You know, when they took Time Travel away from Druitt after the webisodes, I was glad because the last thing this show needed was a time traveling villain. And...I still feel that way? Maybe? BUT AT THE SAME TIME! About the only thing that could ruin this for me is if Gregory Magnus has somehow known the whole time, in which case I might spork my own eyes out, but I think that's just me panicking for no good reason because this episode has made me KIND OF HYSTERICAL.)

HELEN IS IN THE PAST! AND SHE WALKED THERE WITHOUT FLINCHING! OR EVEN LOOKING BACK AT JOHN! AND I HAVE NEVER LOVED HER MORE THAN I DO RIGHT NOW AND OMG THERE IS GOING TO BE COSTUME PORN SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO HOLD ME!

I can't even think. I might think later. I might have to rewatch the episode again tonight, but then I doubt I'll ever sleep (I'm never going to sleep!).

Best season finale ever, y/y?

I am currently paused half-way through the episode because I REALLY HATE suspense and decided I needed to be spoiled before going further /o\. There is no way I'm not watching the rest of it, of course, and I am glad to be (somewhat) reassured that there is no-one in imminent danger of death and the like this time, at least.

I'm not a very good Helen/Tesla shipper (largely because I ship Helen/John and then Helen/James and then...well, it's complicated), but I think it would be funnier if they ran into one another somewhere and he thought it was "current" Helen and not "rerun" Helen, and she just thought it was HILARIOUS and then was gone in the morning and he just thinks it's something they never talk about. ;)

I admit, I LOVED this episode, though I confess that it didn't once occur to me that John being villainized was to facilitate Helen/Someone Else, and now that it's been pointed out, I'm not entirely sure that I like it.

Oh, well, there's always handwaves.

I also admit that the first thing I thought at the end was "I HAVE TO GO SEE WHAT grav_ity SAID BECAUSE I BET IT'S EPIC."

I also actually thought that Adam showing up again in this ep made him slightly less pointless in Pax Romana. At least now we know his actual plan?

I can't even express how total my love for Helen is. It's epic. I just about DIED at that last shot of Modern!Helen in the midst of 1898 London. JUST ABOUT DIED.

Oh, and Kate! I loved her connection with the abnormal jeweler, and... well, everything.

(You know, when they took Time Travel away from Druitt after the webisodes, I was glad because the last thing this show needed was a time traveling villain. i was ok when they took away the time travel, b/c it firmly pushed the show away from the sci fi genre into the fantasy genre, which worked really well for me. i've been irritated ever since they brought back the time travel and thus the heavy sci fi. (someone has classified Sanctuary as 'supernatural' on wikipedia... I don't think that works, they're not using vampires and werewolves in a supernatural way like most other shows do...) I do wish they'd go more steampunk though... which wait, they probably are going to do with the next few episodes! yes!

you can have time travel in fantasy depending on the mechanism (i.e. something like magic). i'd say that the way they're doing the time travel in sanctuary qualifies as sci fi (through technology), not fantasy.
