Okay, Colleen's napping, so here are my minute by minute responses to Carentan.

1. OH GOD, RAVI! He's toast. There's no way he gets out of an episode that Declan is also in.

2. DECLAN KNEW ABOUT NORMANDY! Wow, my shipper goggles are REALLY GOOD.

3. They have Bipedal Conferences! I love them.

4. Seriously, how does Henry still have a job? The Sanctuary must have AMAZING vacation benefits...perhaps because no one else ever seems to take them.

5. DECLAN! BEING ALL "PUT ME IN, COACH!" OMG, I LOVE HIM! (Wow, shipper goggles! Who knew!) (And seriously, even without the goggles, dude lived with Watson for a LONG TIME. He knows how to play when it comes to the Five.)

6. Apparently it's October 8th. That's...whatever. I don't believe any of the dates they give me anymore.

7. KATE AND DECLAN, FTW! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

8. Helen is kind of awesome. In case I haven't mentioned that lately.

9. Wow, you do NOT tell Helen Magnus to go home. It really doesn't work.

10. HEE! Those hay bales haven't moved! You almost expect Nigel to appear.

11. I LOVE DECLAN AND KATE SO MUCH! THEY ARE ADORABLE. SPIN-OFFS FOR EVERYONE!

12. "Awkward. But it does explain a lot!" *hearts*

13. OH GOD, THE BUNKER! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

14. "What if they don't come back?"
"They will."
"Yeah, but what if they don't?"
"Then we go in after them."

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

15. I wonder if that "1935 explosion" thing we learned about in Pax Romana will get some pay-off...

16. HELEN IS THE BEST BOSS EVER (when you're not actually working for her, of course).

17. I wish Will was allowed to do his job without also being The Heart-throb. Because Doctors and Romance is awkward. Psychiatrists and Romance is down right uncomfortable. And it's possible that his scene with Josie near the boundary wasn't even meant to be romantic...but it still felt that way, and it's weird.

18. Kate is so terrifying. I love her.

19. Okay, the Will who talked to Ravi? Who wanted to understand the feeling and emotion and psychosis behind what it means to live in Carentan? That's the Will I want.

20. FUCK, I TAKE IT BACK. *head desk* (though he does get bonus points for name-checking Abby.) (And HEE! for the conversation with Magnus.)

21. The whole Ci/cooking metaphor scene JUST KILLED ME.

22. Okay, so the time bubble thing made a LITTLE bit of sense until the whole "if they haven't been born yet they won't exist" thing. After that it was just weird drama.

23. PENKNIFE! *heart them* OMG, that whole scene was AWESOME.

24. "I don't hate you" Really, what does it say of Helen that 99% of her relationships end up this way?

25. OMG, THIS IS WHY THE BUNKER HAD TWO EXITS (one under the Mayor's office, and one under the cafe Normandy..."I'd pick the cafe")! Show, sometimes I really love you.

26. And Ravi! I'd say I didn't see it coming. But, you know, I did. *pets him*

27. "You're not blaming yourself, are you?"
"Until I know differently."

Oh, Helen. (In addition to the Kate and Declan: Team Badass tags, if someone would like to write me a fic where Helen remembers the bunker, I'd LOVE YOU FOREVER. Um, never mind.)

Round-up: I liked it quite a bit, actually! It was pleasantly watchable, and had just enough going on that I didn't have to think about things like "Wow, that time science makes no sense" and "You know, they need to stop writing Henry out of episodes he'd ACTUALLY BE USEFUL IN." Definitely glad we got the pay-off after Normandy, and REALLY glad that they didn't try to marry the two eps and do flashbacks. And the sunset scene was GORGEOUS. And now I'm curious about next week. ;)

I will say that I think everything else got "erased", and that Carentan just got reset, which is fine...except it doesn't make a lot of sense in the whole "matter cannot be created or destroyed" sense. And I think they could have used that side plot to give an interesting tension between Will and Helen, but the whole "And then the world falls apart" thing nullifies that so...yeah. But even WITH that, it's still a good episode. I do love it when Will gets to do (something like) his job, and when he and Helen work as a team (the "what if I die before we solve this?" conversation was lovely and perfect, of course, because Helen always plays the long game, and at least half of Will's job is to remind her that she can't always do that, or at least remind her to check for other options).

Nothing on Breach, of course. And it's getting harder to pretend that Adam's dead. But whatever. TWO MORE TO GO!

What craks me up is the huge mountains between the base camp. Clearly on effect of the time dilation field, which is on the other side. *snerks* Couldn't they find a plain near Vancouver, a tiny one?

October 8th, probably coz they shot it around that time?

10. HEE! Those hay bales haven't moved! You almost expect Nigel to appear.

I'm going to say they're always stacked the same way. There aren't a million different ways you can do that in the same barn.

*nods, nods* To everything.

18. Kate is so terrifying. I love her.

KATE!

PENKNIFE!

I KNOW!

It's been three eps since we last saw Henry so my guess is Ryan Robbins was shooting something else?

John killed Adam and someone then put him back together and revived him. That's my theory for now.

I'm sure about the town. I think it's deserted now, because anyone who was trapped when the field appear died a long time ago, and then the new people didn't exist outside, so I think they have an empty town on their hands, which looks Carentan should, and not time-dilated Carentan.

Smallville suffered from a similar problem. Who knew you could see the Rockies so clearly FROM KANSAS?

Uh, yes. I meant the physical village, not the people. It still doesn't make sense, but it's "logical".

FROM NORMANDY! More seriously, there is not close mountain range.

I want a Kate & Declan something. Possibly a Declan & Helen something. A story about Biggie's cooking.

Yeeeeah. They made the dramatic/conflict choice here and I suppose we don't really know what would happen in this situation in reality buuuuut....Time Dilation fields != alternate timelines. its like....no. I'm pretty darn sure that even the more esoteric theoretical crackpot science doesn't support that. STORY FAIL. Yes, they needed conflict. But really? Really?

(also I've totally seen this episode as done by trek, SG1 and SGA so c.c;;)

BUT omg how much did I LOVE Ravi and Helen's conversation in the sunset?

also, I am totally ignoring the narmy ending and the whole "everyone disappears" thing because it's dumb (and I shamelessly ignore the dumb on this show) and in my personal Canon, Ravi went back to Mumbai with his wife so he could train his successor (and everyone there went "Whaaaaat?"), and then he and his wife retired on a beach somewhere. Occasionally they visit.

There's a reason my cut-tag was "on the Edge of Forever". ;)

BUT omg how much did I LOVE Ravi and Helen's conversation in the sunset?

I KNOW! From "I don't hate you" (which is really code for "I hate you just a little bit right now") to "Are you ready?" and OMG, I LOVE IT!

Re 19. and 20: OMG YES. TRYING TO LIKE WILL IS LIKE RIDING A ROLLERCOASTER. (On the plus side, at least he remembered Abby? Actually, I don't really blame him. I mean, Will's a pessimist, so I'm fairly sure he's trying to decide whether he thinks they're completely screwed or not, and if they're screwed, then they'll be staying, so... Mind you, I'd still like a young, pretty female character to not end up a love interest, but that's another comment.)

27. !!!!!!! That's one of my favoritest Helen lines.

I'd just like to say that I'll take the Kate and Declan show any day! Or the Kate, Biggie, and Declan show. Can I have that show, please?

I know the science is bad when it makes my head hurt, because I have a great deal of flexibility with sci-fi. Maybe I've been hanging around scientists too long, too.

I was really excited to see Ravi, but as soon as he appeared in Carentan as an old man, I knew he was done for. :-(

I am watching Sanctuary For All right now, and I love the exchange on the roof:

Will: [sarcastically] No, wait. Don't do it. You have your whole life ahead of you.
Helen: If only you knew.
Will: Aren't you cold?
Helen: Opinions are divided.

(OMG, AND EVERYTHING JOHN SAYS IS AMAZING!)

DECLAN CALLED HELEN GUV!!!! You know, like GUVNOR!!!! AM I the only one who thinks this is awesome?

Ahaha and the swearing is increasing in each episode. We now have at least three or four Bloody Hells in each episode, the occasional Bitch, and this week we got a BUGGER! HOOORAH for the British swearing! Although it does mean Helen is pretty uncouth - not quite such a Victorian lady after all! Must be the influence of her wayward father.

I can almost forgive pretty girl love interest for being all "let's have a baby!". she lives in a bubble world, her choices are damn limited. I think Will and love-interest of the week comes from he show being written by men and yes, sometimes these men do a good job, most of the time, not.

where is a love interest for KATE!??! (preferably a hot female one...but my preferences are showing).

I do like their dedication to continuity. :)

Definitely glad we got the pay-off after Normandy, and REALLY glad that they didn't try to marry the two eps and do flashbacks.I'm confused as to how it was payoff. Now, I totally may not have been paying full attention, but Helen's all like, "OK, we let loose a fire elemental here so that caused this"... but then two scenes later they're all like "IT'S ADAM AND HIS TIME DILATION MACHINE!" So I'm confused as to the actual cause.

I don't think it's all the payoff, but at least we got some. This is a show that, for all they tend to fall off the wagon when it comes to endings, plants things very well (see also: Big Bertha in "Veritas" and how many times they say the word "Mumbai" leading up to Kali).
