OMG YOU GUYS!

I was not prepared.

(Well, that's not entirely true as some things turned out almost exactly as I thought they would, but the rest? I LOVE IT!)

The true crowning genius of this episode is that they used the vampire bracelets in the teaser, which explained their presence in the "previouslies", so that when Helen pulled out the map at the end, I was able to FREAK THE HECK OUT because I was genuinely surprised. I hate it when the previouslies give away the twist, and it TOTALLY DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Jumping back to the beginning, can I just say how much I love Helen Magnus? BECAUSE, REALLY! Fieldtrip with Nikola as an apology? Joking about Howard Carter? Being all AWESOME AND WELL DRESSED?

And then Nikola's ten minute death scene, which cracked me up a great deal (except for the "read to me", which may have made me cry...), because Jonathon Young is JUST THAT AWESOME.

GOD, and then HELEN REVAMPED HIM ON PURPOSE! TO SAVE HIS LIFE! WITH ONE OF HER SIGNATURE CRAPPY PLANS! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!

I totally predicted the part that Nikola would be unhappy with the vampires once they started calling him things like "mongrel" and "half-breed", but I thought it really did pay off kind of well. And I am REALLY glad that the Queen is not coming back any time soon, because while she was kind of entertaining, her voice was weird and her dress was creepy.

AND SHE LOVES HELEN TOO!

And then we get the MAP and OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH IT HURTS SOMETIMES.

Speaking of loving things, can I just say I love Kate? A lot? AND SHE USES ASHLEY'S ROOM AS A GYM! *hearts her* As is often the case with an episode I am anticipating, I knew next to nothing about it, and nothing at all about Kate'a plot, so seeing her be AWESOME was just TOTALLY MAGNIFICENT (and then we went to Dead Bridge, BECAUSE THE PRODUCTION TEAM LOVES ME).

I'm almost afraid to watch it again. But not really. I'll probably watch it again tomorrow and have actual thoughts. Now, though? Totally going to bed imagining The Big Guy playing Guitar Hero.

(That is a lie. Of course. As if I can think of ANYTHING BESIDES NIKOLA.)

I love both the A-plot and the B-plot in this ep. I think right now this may be my favourite ep in the entire series.

OH this episode was so awesome wasn't it? LMAO @ Helen's 'Signature crappy plan' It's sooo true and so funny! And my, I adore Helen's outfits, she must be so much fun to play. What do you do for a living? I dress up in awesome outfits and hang out with cool actors pretending to shoot eachother and running around caves!

There was so much Nikola/Helen romance fodder in this episode too, she soo loves him, and he really loves her. I wonder though, will his experience here put Nikola off trying to resurrect the vampire race?

I think so, for a while at least. Regardless, I think he'll still come up with another crazy idea to improve the world, which will ultimately prove disastrous. :P

I loved loved loved Nikola's calm little smirk at the bottom of the pit when he calmed down and turned his EK up to 11. Surprised he didn't do something horrid to the queen with it. (I did like her voice - it was just creepydifferent enough to set my teeth on edge.) Also, of course Comrade Nikola has no love for a feudal lunatic.

And my god, the Helen/Nikola moments were just astounding.

Also, Big Guy bivouacking in the office with Will while he's working. There were some decent random team moments in there.

I loved Kate standing up to Castor (who looked really familiar) at the end. New recurring villain?

(I think I may write fic afterwards where Helen and Nikola talk about if the Queen bit her...but I haven't decided yet if she did or not. I mean, Helen wasn't mussed or weak after that scene, but it ended with "I hope you choke on it", and I'm not sure how else they got out of that clinch...)

And thank you about a the banner! I fiddled with the picture FOREVER (mostly because no matter what I did the most visible feature was Nikola's moustache and I couldn't take it seriously like that), but once I found this layout in the lj data banks...it was perfect. ;)
