I...well, that happened.

This is my first episode from a new source, and can I just say? PRETTY! Having the proper definition makes a huge difference!

I think I loved this episode in discrete moments. Like when The Big Guy refused to get in the elevator, for example. Or when he went straight for his hair when Magnus suggested the parasite. Or...pretty much everything Christopher Heyerdahl did, actually, because I've been watching a lot of Ripper lately, and this was fun. ;)

And I loved the banter and many of the lines, and the actual abnormal itself. But I'm not sure I loved the episode as a whole. I think I had high hopes for an episode where the building tries to kill them, and it just didn't pay off.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the end. Either make it a joke and lie to the UN person (which I would have bought), or tell her the truth. But splitting the difference just made them all look like idiots, and really threw me out of what was otherwise a fun romp of a filler episode.

(and...not even name check for Tesla? When I saw the teaser for this episode I kind of hoped that it was the aftermath of the Tesla being kidnapped or something, and the episode would be the Children remembering how it happened, possibly even ending with Tesla going willingly, and instead...nothing. WEIRD.)

But all that aside, Helen Magnus wins everything, forever. (Please to be bringing Declan back instead of just mentioning him!)

Also, from a vidding perspective, this episode is GOLDEN with random shots of characters doing weird things...

Suddenly an episode where they turn into cats is looking reasonable.

I totally agree. I actually enjoyed it, mostly because I had no expectations, but the ending didn't work for me. I would have liked it a lot better if they had just lied to the UN lady. That would have fit with the humor of the episode, IMHO.

I was already preparing to renew my Helen Magnus Fanclub Membership based on the fact that she is LYING TO THE UN because THAT WAS FUNNY, and then...yeah.

Yes to this. The end kinda made me cringe.

Biggie was the best. &hearts

Declan mentions are great. Seeing him again would be much better.

When the Rep started to think her way through it, I was all "Oh, this is where Helen tells her that it wasn't the taxi, it was in fact a random creature...but they didn't. And then she didn't yell at them for lying! And I was all "Why do you episodes fall apart at the end so badly sometimes?"

I didn't really care about this episode at all. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it, I just sort of sat through it. It was... there.

We the exception of the hilarious CH performance...yeah. This is also my least favourite kind of Will. Even at the end when he was all "We'll do a standard 3 mark 5 whatever", I was all "See, I think you're supposed to be looking competent here, but there really is NO SAVING THIS EPISODE."

Yeah, CH was great and it was fun to see Biggie more involved. I liked seeing a bit more interaction between Helen and Kate too, even if it was fairly bland. But the comedy mostly fell flat for me, and I'm beginning to see why some people find Will annoying. I didn't buy into the standard 3 mark 5 whatever bit either.

Henry is still adorable, however.

In this sort of episode, I often feel like Will is out of character. When he was fighting Henry, for example, NEITHER of them were infected. They were just...hitting each other. As men do? Or something? It was weird. This is the kind of Will I don't like.

But YES: Helen and Kate!

Yeah, I couldn't make any sense of the who was hitting who at what time whatsoever. And I also couldn't make any sense of why they were still mad at each other when it was obvious they were all under the influence of something foreign. Hello, people, you work with Abnormals ALL THE TIME and weird stuff happens to you PRACTICALLY EVERY DAY. So why are you acting like you barely know each other and think you might actually be the kind of people who would randomly shoot at each other and beat each other up for no good reason?

On the plus side, DOCTOR WHO tonight was THE ABSOLUTE BOMB. I am still hyperventilating. *flails*

Yes, this was my single biggest problem with the episode! I am used to letting a certain amount of plot-logic slide when I'm watching Sanctuary *g*, but this stopped me cold, because COME ON. There's not a single character on the show who hasn't already had at least one episode in which they were under the influence of something making them act violently OOC. And now we're suddenly supposed to believe that they not only can't even entertain the possibility that they MIGHT be under the influence of something exotic, but are such strangers to each other that they actually believe their so-called friends would, in all seriousness, turn on them? I think my suspension of disbelief just came unsuspended ...

Hee. Yes, the splitting the difference at the end really didn't work. *sighs* However, I actually giggled throughout a large part of the ep. Right after I got over the shock of Helen's very short skirt (before she left on her trip).

Hee. I do tend to notice clothes, but on Stargate, it's all about noticing how awful the clothes are, whereas on Sanctuary, it's all about coveting Helen's wardrobe. *g*

I loved that Biggie continued ringing the emergency bell in the elevator, even after the team had found him. ROFL.

It felt like such a weird romp after the dive that was Pax Romana. Though the team-dynamic moments were stupidly adorable. (Watching Henry and Will bicker like 16 year olds will never get old.) But it was a good concept for an abnormal.

I do agree on two points.
Tesla's absence was odd (but considering how much havoc a raging Nikola could create, understandable).

And I did not like the "let's make the UN lady think she's dain bramaged" - Helen has got to know that would have blown up in her face. I mean, there has to have come a point, I imagine, where there's a UN person, phone in one hand, resting hir head on the other, muttering, "Bloody Sanctuaries." It's not like any other organization would be capable of picking up the slack anytime soon if the UN cut off the Sanctuaries. And it's not like it would slow Magnus down. So why lie?

(Also? So friending your journal.)

I don't mind Will and Henry bickering. But Will attaching him after he (Will) was no longer under the control of the parasite just seemed...really weird.

Basically what this episode boiled down to for me was the decent execution of an idea I don't really like (as opposed to "One Night", which was a half-way decent execution of an idea I do like). I suppose we all need filler sometimes! ;)

Oh, I liked it. It was just that we had absolutely no denouement from Pax that it made me honestly wonder if I missed an ep. Gods' sake, people, you were dead - where's the PTSD?! Where's the "what do we do now?" among the non-Helen characters?

This. This is why I adore fandom. And may have to suck it up and start dealing with Sanctuary muses.

Denouement is not really Sanctuary's strong point (the exception would be Eulogy). Generally, I am okay with that. This time it was weird.
