Fic Rec: The Hunger Games
Apr. 6th, 2011 08:07 amI picked this up off of
het_reccers this morning, and even though I'm only done the first chapter, I am reccing it anyway. Because it is awesome.
It's they story of Annie and Finnick, the year he mentored her through her Games. Mags and Haymitch and the other victors are there as well, of course, and the author has captured every bit of their abject depression and inability to do anything but back their own candidate and pretend they aren't holding any grudges.
There are the edges of insanity to Annie already, and you can see how she's going to snap. Finnick is just painful (there's a warning, btw, because what happened to Finnick is awful and the author writes it anyway), but the author plays Capitol-Finnick against Home-Finnick in a way that just hits me right in the stomach, and Mags...oh, Mags!
It's written in the style of the Hunger Games as well, and the imagery is just as amazing as the books themselves. And it has a good title. I am really excited to finish this story, but in the meantime:
