It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

1. Mariah and Carlos (Jive, Jason Gilkison): A bit slow, I thought, but I have a tendency to judge all jives against "Girlfriend", so that's not really fair. They were a bit heavy on their feet, but the tricks made up for it, and the expression on Carlos's face when they hit the flip/turn was ADORABLE. Probably not good enough for the long run, but in the first week, you just want people to think you're amazing, and the tricks will probably work for them there.

2. Jasmine Mason and Alan (Contemporary, Travis Wall): Can we retired "Can't Help Falling In Love With You"? Or at least non-Elvis versions? That aside, this dance was much better danced (hello, dancing in your style with TRAVIS FREAKING WALL), but sometimes I feel like I've seen these dances before. That said, they were both BEAUTIFUL, Jasmine's extensions and body control in particular. I look forward to seeing her in other styles.

3. Malece and Jade (Jazz, Travis Wall): Um. Guys, sometimes I just don't get it. Jade at least looked like he was having fun? I don't know.

4. Jenna and Tucker (Broadway, Tyce Diorio): UGH, TYCE. It's the OPPOSITE of how I feel about Wade Robson. COME BACK WADE, I MISS YOU. Seriously, though, Jenna and Tucker are SUPER CUTE, and except for the weird bit with the basket at the end, they managed to sell it. I hope they get to sink their teeth into something next week.

5. Brittany and Bluprint (Afro Jazz, Sean Cheesman): CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESMAN! I mean, his dances can go either way, but I LOVE HIM SO. This was athletic as all get-out, but both of them (Brittany in particular) looked so freaking graceful doing it! I was very impressed, though I will be more impressed if Bluprint can partner a bit better. He was playing catch up a lot, I thought.

6. Alexis and Niko (Hip Hop, Christopher Scott): That was good! I mean, for week one. For a tapper and a contemporary. I like that Scott was willing to utilize their skills in the choreo (Nigel hated this dance, didn't he?), and they both looked 100% comfortable on stage (though they weren't deep enough into the style? If that makes sense? Basically I feel that they nailed the steps and the feelings, but no the physical "grunge" for hip hop? Lord, I have no idea. I liked it though). Oodles of room for improvement, but fun and talented, and excellent partnering.

7. Makenzie and Paul (Viennese Waltz, Jason Gilkison): Okay, so I cannot be objective about the waltzes. I JUST LOVE THEM. And I loved this. They both looked so RELAXED and like they were having FUN, and yeah, their feet weren't perfect, but SPINNING IS SO MUCH COOLER THAN NO SPINNING,

8. Jasmine Harper and Aaron (Jazz, Sonya Tayeh): BOTTOM OF THE RIVER, YES! Though, to be honest, I am kind of infatuated with the video, so this is a bit weird. ANYWAY: Jasmine did much better than Aaron, I thought, though Aaron had exactly the right expression on his face a lot, which helps. And he was an excellent, excellent partner. Battle of the Jasmines, anyone? I imagine that will lead to SUPER COMPLICATED voting conspiracies, if nothing else.

9. Hayley and Curtis (Hip-Hop, Christopher Scott): Christopher Scott, you guys. I'm glad they keep him on to tell other kinds of hip hop dances. I like Nappy Tabs, but they do get old. Anyway, this dance, again, was probably "better" than the other hip hop number, but was less entertaining. They both had excellent timing, but I didn't think it was as engaging (or as complicated, tbh).

10. Amy and Fik-Shun (Contemporary, Sonya Tayeh): Like earlier with Aaron, I think Sonya did a good job building a dance around two vastly different people, and featuring the one who should be featured. Amy was AMAZING, and Fik-Shun was her partner. That said, I think Fik-Shun might be the closest to a Joshua-type dancer we've had since Joshua-the street dancer who is a great partner, has an adorable smile, and learns at the speed of light. So there might be something to him. I AM INTRIGUED.

Cat Deeley, how are you so perfect?

Stage (I can't really call you "the new stage", any more, since we're now into our SIXTH SEASON with it), but I still hate you. ;)
