Book #34: Saints and Misfits, by S.K. Ali

Like, it was really good judged in a vacuum, and since there's no such thing as a vacuum in literature, it's also a REALLY good example of what happens when characters are allowed to have their whole culture and not just be stereotyped or tokenized.
Ali's characters are brilliant, her insight into marginalized communities is perfect, and her portrayal of complication within those communities is absolutely wonderful.
It comes out in a week or so, and I highly recommend it.
