MAN, and I thought the first book was good!
Basically there's a whole new case and whatnot, but also massive carry-over in terms of theme and fall-out from book #1, and, I just...DAMN, it was good.
(It is so good. Wonderfully constructed and perfectly executed and supremely readable. YA at its best, literature at its best. And all of the characters hit every narrative kink I could possibly have from character (smart, ruthlessly kind girls; compelling-but-not-annoying boys; interesting and intensely complicated grown-ups; characters SAYING THE WORDS, politics that cut justsoclose). I just...THEY ARE SO GOOD.)
Of course I have to wait a year for book #3. #readerproblems
