First off, does Kekla Magoon have the best name ever OR WHAT?
This is an urban reimagining of Robin Hood, staring a biracial maker-girl called Robyn, whose parents go missing at the beginning due their political affiliation, and who hides in the slums to avoid being caught. It's a bit light on world-building, but the pacing was excellent and so I didn't really care.
I really liked Robyn's character arc, and how she adjusted from being a loner to being a leader. There's a great moment where, after she changes a plan on-the-fly and one of her friends yells at her, she gives him a half-apology, and he accepts it, because 1. it wasn't the best, but 2. IT WAS BETTER THAN GETTING CAUGHT.
SHADOWS also dealt with class and privilege really well. Kids books are getting really good at that, and I never get tired of reading how deftly other authors handle it. I was very impressed.
Also, the Friar Tuck character was GREAT.
