Stealing Fire
Jan. 5th, 2014 07:31 pmThis is what I said about STEALING FIRE the first time I read it, almost three years ago. Every single bit of it is still true.
I often say that BLACK SHIPS is my favourite of the three, and in a way that's kind of true. But what I really mean is that BLACK SHIPS is the book of my heart, HAND OF ISIS is the book of my brain, and STEALING FIRE is the book of my soul.
I have so many FEELINGS about this book. Now that I'm doing promo and stuff for OWEN, I keep getting asked "what are you [three] favourite books", and it's always a nightmare for the third spot, but the first two are pretty consistently taken up by THE HOBBIT and by STEALING FIRE. That's how much I love it. I love it as much as I love THE HOBBIT, though in a slightly different way.
"I do not know what words to say," I whispered. "I do not even know which name to call you by. Lady of Stars, make me worthy of love."
(You should all read it, obviously.)
AND NOW, because I am impatient, I am going to read THE EMPEROR'S AGENT. Because REILLE, that's whey. Also because Subervie, who holds the distinction of being the only character I recognize from book to book without help, even though one time I thought he might be Glaukos, and I don't think he is?
(I am really bad at this, btw. But that doesn't mean I don't love it!)

FUNNY STORY! So Yuletide happened, and
hiddencait decided to write me a story of Madness, along with someone else, because we both had BLACK SHIPS listed and even though she'd never read it, she trusted us. And now the books own her soul too, so that worked out well. :)
