Fic Round Up: 2011
Dec. 28th, 2011 01:41 pmLast year, I said this:
I really think that this year might be the year I kind of stop doing fanfic. I have many other plans, and the summer is looking to be a total write-off (uh, no pun intended). But if this year taught me anything it's not to make predictions, so I guess we'll just see!
Ahaha. Ahahahaha. Ahahahahahahahahahahaha. OH, I AM SO PRECIOUS.
I wrote that on January 3, 2010, when I was half way done season one of Sanctuary. We all know what happened after that!
Total Word Count: 188,815. I DON'T EVEN KNOW. When you add my novelling to that number, it becomes 279,295. I DON'T EVEN KNOW.
Total Number of Stories: 80 (that's an average of 2360 words per story, which is pretty good).
Fandoms: Tamora Pierce, Tangled, Sanctuary, Highlander, Stargate Atlantis, Percy Jackson and the Olympians
My favourite story this year: UM...LORD, I DON'T EVEN KNOW. I am very, very fond of Helen Does The Time Warp, Again, but this year I am SPOILED FOR CHOICE. Also, I wrote a HUGE POEM in the style of Lewis Carrol and LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT. AND ALSO I WROTE A STORY ABOUT AN ALCOHOLIC DRAGON WHILE I WAS ASLEEP. What is YOUR favourite story?
My best story of the year: Again, not really sure. But probably either Paralysis or Lines in the Sand.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Pondera Debitum. It was VERY HARD to write and I DID THINGS WITH GRAMMAR TENSES THAT MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY EXIST and...I'm a dork.
Most fun story: The One Where They Turn Into Cats (And A Dog). For about fifteen reasons. Though had I been conscious for Chasing the Dragon, it would probably have won. That story was AWESOME. I don't remember writing it.
Sexiest story: Venatus Debitum. Or, as I like to think of it, "How Kate Accidentally Wrote A Story That Made Her Very Popular On The Internet When She Was Really Just Playing With Verb Tenses".
Hardest story to write: Paralysis. NEARLY KILLED ME. Mostly because I wanted it to be PERFECT. Also my Big Bangs, Kiss Kiss, Big Bang: A Vampire Apocalypse In Four Parts and A Change in the Weather, because the former had to follow rules and Nikola doesn't like rules, and because the latter involved a period of history I don't actually know that much about.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: PLEASE EXCUSE ME WHILE I DIE OF HYSTERICS.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?: I wrote F/F and M/M (PG ratings all around). I wrote historical characters. I wrote A CRAP LOAD OF WORDS. I risked
emmaorgana's wrath by putting off The Dragon Book for eight months. I TURNED PEOPLE INTO CATS. I invested a lot in a shared canon, and came out EVEN BETTER for it.
Do you have any goals for the New Year?: Yes. Yes I do. *cackles evilly*
I am not listing all my fics here, because I don't feel like coding FOREVER, but here is my AO3 account: WORDS!
