2007 Fic Review

In the year of 2007, I wrote a masters dissertation that was 14,998 words long, plus another 5000 words or so in tables and appendices. I mention this only to provide context. I realize that everyone else out there balances life with fic, but I've always wondered if because my life is mostly writing for grades (right now), it makes some kind of difference.
Probably not, eh?
Anyhoo:
I wrote 25 stories in 2007, in 9 fandoms and I used 61968 words to do it. That's over 5000 words a month, about 1200 words a week and a little over 150 words a day. Not too shabby, all things considered. Especially when we gloss over the part where I wrote almost a quarter of them in one weekend in order to finish "Dreams of Convenience" and "Beetle's Nothing".
New fandoms for me, writing wise, included Doctor Who and The West Wing.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I think one of my New Year's Resolutions last year was to write. I got away from it a bit in 2006 and I wanted the rush back. A lot of My Seclusion Weekend came from that, I think...wanting to prove myself I still had it. I was a bit surprised at how much I did this year, because I haven't written fic since, oh, JUNE because of The Thesis and Real Life and stuff.
What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Beetle's Nothing. Hands down. I love that fic and I had SO MUCH FUN with it. Classic Stargate is like a drug, my friends, the good kind of "OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING" drugs.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Rodney. Ingram. McKay. LORD that man tries my patience. My grammar check isn't too fond of him either.
Also, the remix. It scared the crap out of me, and I didn't even get an author I knew.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Yes. I want to write Lying Down With Dogs and Workers for the Cause before someone else writes too far ahead in Wildwest Atlantis. I should also write my Eddings fic, if only to make them shut up.
My Best Story of the Year
"Paper, Scissors, Yak" I forget about this story ALL THE TIME and then I go back and read the comments and remember that Isa told me it her favourite thing of mine ever and I try to remember writing it because I just woke up one morning and there it was and I have NO IDEA how it happened.
Story Most Under appreciated by the Universe in My Opinion
"Love and Larceny". Space pirates, people! And...Jack/Daniel!
Most Fun Story
"Transcendence" It was sort of like peeling off a blister, but I loved every minute of it.
Most Sexy Story
Er..."Transcendence" again, I guess. This story also wins the prize for the most blatant self-insertion, but no one ever reads it that way.
Hardest Story to Write
"Dreams of Convenience", though, in fairness, once it got going it *really* got going.
Biggest Surprise
The reaction for "Paper, Scissors, Yak" and my (Sh)Agathon entries.
I am not going to post 25 links because that would be silly. If you click "fic" in my tags and scroll far enough, you'll run into all of my fandoms. Alternatively, you could go to the Pit of Voles and read them there. There is also my website, which you can link to at the side bar. And...there's also a link to ff.net there too. Go figure.
Anyhow, failing all else, ask me and I'll give you the link.
