Meme!

A tiny bit of procrastination (which, btw, I've already written 1K today, so I think I'm good...)

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions.

[livejournal.com profile] gabolange gave me Bones, Stargate: SG-1, and Slings & Arrows.

BONES

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

I am so, so not in this fandom! There are actually very few shows on TV that I find more annoying. Which is not to say that I wasn't desperately looking forward to it when it started airing, because I was. I had never read the books, but I was just about to go to England and study forensic archaeology, so it seemed like perfection.

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. I didn't even make it through the pilot, and when I read the books, I loathed them. I've only seen season one, and that is because of this: I threw out my back.

For about a month when I was in England, I couldn't get out of bed without extreme pain. A friend loaned me season one, and after I watched all of Supernatural, The West Wing, Brothers and Sisters, Slings and Arrows, and almost every DVD I'd packed to bring with me to England in the first place, I cracked and watched season one. And it was awful. And I've never watched the show again.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I was never in it, so...yes. I've moved on. I do read some fic, because it's written by people I like and I really, really wanted this to be a show I liked...but no dice.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

Um...maybe the one where they get locked in the lab, because I have a weakness for Christmas episodes? Or that one with the black guy who wanted to marry a white girl and take her to France? Again, I'm a sucker for the sentimental. Mostly, though, haaaaaaaaaate.

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

No.

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Honestly, I don't care. I have no idea what's going on in the show right now, and I don't really care to know. The only thing I might someday get out of this fandom is that if I ever write an archaeological sell-out novel, there will be a market for it.

STARGATE SG-1

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

One day, [livejournal.com profile] eldanna handed me a bag of VHS tapes and said "I think you will like this." She was correct. I discovered livejournal shortly thereafter, and soon enough I was writing (terrible) fanfic. SG-1 fandom has been one of the most formative experiences of my life (in some cases, I think, more than school), and it has been with me for almost a decade.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I've already moved on? I mean, it's over and I've gone on to other things, and sometimes when I try to watch reruns it's just too awkward for me. But there are things about SG-1 that I will always love, and I met most of my friends online as a result of the show, so in all likelihood, I will never truly leave it behind.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

UM. The original movie, Thor's Hammer, Family, Serpent's Song, 1969, Forever in a Day, Jolinar's Memories/The Devil You Know, Divide and Conquer, Window of Opportunity, The Curse, 2010, Entity, Rite of Passage, 2001, Summit/Last Stand, Fail Safe, Cure, Smoke and Mirrors, The Changeling, Lifeboat, Fallout, Chimera, Death Knell, Heroes I and II, Avatar, Citizen Joe, The Reckoning I and II, Threads, Moebius I and II, Beachhead, Ripple Effect, 200, Line in the Sand, Bad Guys and Continuum.

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Yes. Yes I do. :)

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Maybe? I mean, it's done (and DONE), but there is so much to work with. I imagine any newbie would have to do a lot of swimming upstream, but at least all the infighting seems to be over.

SLINGS AND ARROWS

What got you into this fandom in the first place?

This also dates to my "injured in England" period. [livejournal.com profile] pellucid told me I should watch it, so I did.

Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

There's a fandom? I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I love it, it's Shakespeare, I live near Stratford. I'm never leaving.

Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

All of them. Especially the ones with William Hutt. But all of them.

Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Not really. But I do tell people to watch it a lot.

Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Certainly! The more the merrier! And there are only 18 episodes, so it's totally something you can do in a weekend. :)

I think this might be the first time I've done one of these memes for a show I absolutely hate. Fun times!
