Hobbit Fic Rec
I figure that every fandom gets one perfect fanfic.
I think that, for THE HOBBIT, that perfect fanfic might be Something Blue.
Something Blue is not perfect just because it's the best post BOFA fix-it I've ever seen. And it's not perfect because it's the best incorporation/explanation/adaptation/use of the idea of Dwarves having a "One" I've ever read. And it's not perfect because Bilbo is fucking awesome. And it's not perfect because Kili is ridiculously insightful while still being carefree. And it's not perfect because Fili is trying, but being crown prince and being crown prince is kind of a step. And it's not perfect because Thorin is, well, Thorin.
It's not perfect because the dialogue shines, or because the descriptions are so good you might be standing there. It's not perfect because of everyone's backstories. It's not perfect because the gardening details are all correct. It's not perfect because it's politics and intrigue and consequences. And it's not perfect just because it's a marriage of convenience (and, so help me, I adore those so much).
Something Blue is perfect, yes, because it is ALL OF THOSE THINGS, plus more feelings than I knew what to do with. It is a story, one of the best I've ever read. Waiting for updates was torture, and then finally getting to read the ending was...well, that would be telling.
So give it a try, f-list. If you like THE HOBBIT. Because this story? Is kind of perfect.

And I saw, and I intend to read, but it has those nasty words "cannon compliant character death" and I need my lack of cannon today I think lol

I mean, I don't DWELL ON IT. It just happens off screen, and I mention it every now and then
to really grind your feelings into the ground. :)I love the idea that Dori, Nori and Ori are THE PINNACLE of Dwarven good looks. It makes me so happy.
