I loved this book so hard. It came out way back in January, but due to my own idiocy, my pre-order was messed up and I didn't get it until just before I left for the BEARS!!! book tour, and then I was very busy. I finally got to it, and, just, SO GOOD.

TRUTHWITCH has girls who mostly understand their powers (though not their Epic Destiny, because otherwise there wouldn't be a plot), MASSIVE politics, really excellent world building, GIRLS WHO ARE FRIENDS, older women being awesome, a super-neat invented religion/magic system, and EXCELLENT ship research.

and, you know, also boys. *sighs*

I think it's going to be a four book series, and I also think that Dennard is going to get all four books, because so far she's doing well.

I picked this up from the library but I'm having a hard time getting into it. I think it's a combination of jumping between POVs a bit too much for my taste, the writing being a little flat (considering I've been binge-reading Steven Brust, this should not surprise me) and... weird as it sounds, the ___witch repetition. Windwitch! Poisonwitch! Bloodwitch! At some point I started rolling my eyes.
