Oh, like you're really surprised.

All the women. Because in my day, we wrote FIC for our head canons. Or something. ;)

2014! Happened! And my book came out, and a bunch of other things happened, and still, somehow, I did fanfic. Because apparently that part of my brain is not going quiet.

Number of Fics: Seven, in three fandoms (Sleepy Hollow, The Hobbit, and Circle of Magic).

Total Word Count: 43,555 words of fan fiction. I can't really give an accurate count of words I did for novels this year, because I was all over the map in terms of projects. I worked on and edited a lot of things, much of which I can't talk about yet.

Favorite Story of the Year: Hands down, this is A Favourable Arrangement. I wanted to read a marriage of convenience, but there wasn't one, so I wrote it instead, and it was a BLAST.

Best Story of the Year: A Sky For The Seeing did exactly what I wanted it to in terms of structure and feel. I don't build too many stories (usually they just happen), but I put a lot of effort into this one, and I think it paid off.

Most Fun Story to Write: Oh, this one has GOT to be A Knot That Ties Four Ways, which I wrote in a Starbucks with [ profile] emmaorgana, while two old ladies had the most awkward conversation in the HISTORY OF TIME right across from us. Magic.

Sexiest Story: I really like UNDER THE MOUNTAIN, which is the second chapter of The Years Between. They are so good at each other.

Hardest Story to Write: OH GOD, remember how on Monday, I was all "I am going to write 3K of fic and wrap up this Fili/Sigrid thing before New Years", and then three days later, had written NINE THOUSAND WORDS to finally finish it? Yeah, it's An Inevitable Outcome, no contest.

Easiest Story to Write: The Study of the Blade. Admittedly, I sat on this for a while (like, right after I saw AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY INTO DWARF FEELINGS. It's the first sketch of fic in my Hobbit folder), but once I actually sat down and did it, Elrond just took over and got it done. He is pretty great when you listen to him.

Biggest Changes This Year: Did I change? I'm not sure I did.

Goals: As always, further up and further in! Next year, if everything proceeds as planned, I will write a book, write AND edit a book, edit a book, and launch two books. And there is a slight possibility that I will have to do MORE than that. I am pretty excited, to be honest. This is a lot of fun. I realized this week that the Fili/Sigrid story was written totally for my ego. People loved it, and it cost me so little to give. I want to hold on to that part of writing; the part where it's FUN. I think that's why I just keep coming back to fan fiction.

Well, here we are. Thank you so much for tagging along with me in this. Your support through my long silence was very much appreciated. I loved writing this series, and I am sad to finish it, but it is finished. Hopefully someone else writes Fili/Sigrid now. :)

Apparently there are going to be six chapters.

Note: I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get to this, but after the movie came out, I received several really lovely notes from people who need a happy ending. Which, let's be real: we need a happy ending. So I sat down to write the last chapter, only to discover that there will be FIVE chapters, not four.

Complete Metamophosis, The Very Hungry Caterpillar: You know how there's always that one fic every year that breaks fandom a little bit? Pretty sure this one is it.

What's Mine Is Not Yours, Unusual Dragon Hoards (iguanamouth): One of my favourite memes on tumblr this fandom is pretty much what it says on the tin: dragons hoarding unusual stuff. This fic is delightfully wacky/practical, and I adore it.

Further On, The Turn of the Story: If you have not managed to read THE TURN OF THE STORY by Sarah Rees Brennan, you should do that. It's free on her live journal.

This fic is long, which is excellent, and also excellent, which is excellent.

Aftermath, The Scarlet Pimpernel: This takes place at the most tense moment of Percy and Marguerite's relationship, and it is PER.FECT. UGH, I love THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL so much, and this fic is basically most of what I love in a nutshell.

Once upon a time, there was this commercial on Canadian TV:

It's become something of a Thing lately, thanks to its hilarity/ability to be misunderstood, and so this year, there was Yuletide fic for it*.

There are two stories, a photo chronicle, which is absolutely hilarious, and a fairy-tale type, which is super adorable.

I'm still working my way through the archive. :)

*with a bonus appearance by these guys.

I love you all to pieces, but WOULD YOU PLEASE FINISH YOUR STUFF?

Also, a reminder that I am always open to fic recs for:

1. Catelyn/Ned, their marriage before everything went to shit (or an AU, because basically AUs are my favourite part of GoT)
2. Elinor/Fergus, who grew up together and got married and then OH CRAP, FERGUS HAS TO BE KING, and Elinor is all "Well, damn if this is falling apart on MY watch!" etc.
3. I don't think there's any Margaret/John on the internet that I haven't read, but JUST IN CASE THERE IS, maybe you should tell me about it.
4. Basically any marriage of convenience that ends well (except not Supernatural, Sherlock, McShep or, and I can't believe I have to say this, Transformers), though I do prefer historical/fantasy.

Addendum: Also, I am after politics, FEELINGS, kissing, kissing, and mutual respect that grows slowly through a series of misunderstandings into OH GOD THEY CANNOT KEEP THEIR HANDS TO THEMSELVES. As you do.

Apparently I am too dumb to TAG MY YULETIDE IDEAS as I get them, so this post is about the ideas I have had in the last 30 minutes.

(These are not nominations. These are things I would like to request.)

1. North & South (Margaret Hale/John Thornton, obvs.)
2. Pam Am (Kate/Spying)
3. Flashpoint (Jules, Parker, per-series, probably. How she got in? OR SOMETHING)

1. Strike Back (and hope I get a prompt close to "Damage Lessons", because: FOR REAL, but even if I don't it's still Strike Back)
2. Brave (Elinor/Fergus, because I keep saying someone should do it)

...I'm sure I'll think of other things, forget to write them down somewhere, and LIVE WITH THE PAIN.

This is why I try not to post WIPs. Because sometimes you get utterly taken over by Other Writing, and know.

I just broke 600K on! In case you were wondering how I went from CSI song-fic to a book on the shelf in 11 years. ;)
